Excellent

Layered with emotional depth. Amazing love story. But there was so much more than just the story between Sebastian and Lia. The kids, co-workers, parents, and the journey toward self- discovery for both gave the book a steady pace that didn’t feel forced. Very relatable. As a southerner, I also enjoyed and appreciated the voice performances. A new favorite.

I looovvvveee this book. I’ve read it at least 3 times before it was available on Audible. Once it was available I had to purchase it. I was not disappointed. I love this story line! I love this series set in Savanna. It makes me want to move..

Final thoughts: This was a very good read and one of the best marriage in crisis stories I’ve read. For years, Ophelia tried to be understanding and acceptable to many things in the name of supporting her husband or being a good, southern wife and mom. But it became too much and she realized how unhappy she was so she changed it, which made the MMC realize how much he needed to change to save his marriage.

And he did and it was so good. I listened to this on audiobook and thought the narrators did a great job. Fans of marriage in crisis where the MMC does whatever it takes to save things are going to enjoy this one because I know I did.

Love Maya Alden books

Love this story, love the relationship they have with their kids. Love the way they handled their empty nest. The only thing that I would probably want to tweak a bit in how his asshole family was handled.
