His student. His obsession. His undoing.

"Maybe there’s something in two broken souls needing the same thing, at the same time, then searching for it in the same place."

Aaron Jones has survived by hiding behind walls of control and calculated indifference. He’s had to. As the son of two infamous serial killers, people either fear him, pity him, or crave to peel him open just to see what’s underneath. The last thing he needs is anyone digging into his past. Especially not a man who makes him want to surrender every defence.

Dr Kenneth Lyons. Criminal psychologist. Brilliant. Respected. Off-limits. And the one man Aaron can’t seem to resist.

Kenny has always been drawn to the shadows of the human mind, but nothing is darker, or more tempting, than the new haunted student in his lecture hall.

Aaron is beautiful, complicated, and utterly forbidden. Every rule says he should walk away. Every glance, every brush of contact, makes that impossible. Desire twists into obsession. Boundaries shatter. Every kiss is dangerous. Every touch is a confession. And every moment brings them closer to ruin.

But when a new killer surfaces on campus, mimicking the crimes of Aaron’s parents, their intoxicating entanglement turns deadly. Someone wants to resurrect the past. Someone wants to expose the truth. And if Kenny isn’t careful, giving into Aaron could cost him everything.

Dream a Little Dream (To Love a Psycho, Book 1) launches the dark MM To Love a Psychoromantic thriller series where Aaron and Kenny’s story begins, and never truly ends. Their bond of forbidden desire and dangerous obsession threads through every murder, every secret, and every temptation. For listeners who crave their romance steeped in danger, tangled with lies, and bound by a love that should never happen… yet refuses to let go.

This isn’t a light romance desire turns into obsession, and love is tangled with secrets and risk. Some moments feel deliberately slow or heavy, which may not be for everyone, but they suit the dark tone of the story well.

Dream a Little Dream is intense, provocative, and haunting. Perfect for readers who enjoy forbidden MM romance, psychological tension, and relationships that toe the line between love and ruin. I’m definitely curious to see where Aaron and Kenny’s story goes next.

Story: I absolutely loved this new facet of CF White's writing! I have been a fan of her writing for a while and was super curious about this new type of stories. To say I was NOT disapointed is a huge understatement.
The book had me in a vice grip from page one. The tension and slow unveiling of the truth, coupled with measured doses of the tension and attraction between the MCs, sprinkled on top with so many complicated emotions, it all worked so well! It's a challenge to balance the plot, heavy emotional layers and romantic subplot, but CF White pulled it off beautifully.
This new darker side of the author is a beauty to behold and I cannot recommend the book enough.
[Warning: There is a cliffhanger, so be aware going in]
Narration: Pure brilliance. I love Piers Ryman's voice and narration style to pieces!

It is great to see another side of C.F. White’s creative mind, a dark and thrilling romantic suspense with a murder mystery, past secrets and a forbidden attraction. The song “Dream a Little Dream” will never be the same for me again, and I will always think of Aaron Jones, the son of two monsters. After the arrest of both parents, Aaron lived in foster homes, no longer went by his name given at birth, and now as an adult he is attending university. Did Aaron turn into a well-rounded adult, and did the therapy sessions he was required to attend help him? Time will tell, and you will have to be the judge of that, I have my conclusion and so does Dr. Kenneth Lyons, a criminal psychologist, a professor at the university Aaron is attending and someone who has more than one connection to the serial killer’s case. Both these characters have brilliant minds, and White was clever in the way she brings them together and into each other’s orbit. There is great chemistry between them, smoking hot and tense chemistry, despite the age gap and the forbidden factor for several reasons including the student/teacher factor. This cleverly plotted multi-layered story has non-stop drama, angst, twists and turns, mystery, thrilling and psychological suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Aaron and Kenny’s story does not end here, and I am looking forward to what to see what where the future takes them next. C.F. White, thank you for this terrific story and wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.

Audio. First in series (To Love a Psycho). Professor/student. Forbidden relationship. Age gap. Slow burn/no burn. Dual POV. Heed content warnings. Mild cliffhanger as the series continues.

Aaron is well aware of who Dr. Kenny Lyons is, the man profiled Aaron’s serial killer parents and helped the investigation ten years ago which imprisoned them and thrust Aaron into foster care. Kenny doesn’t think his one night stand will come back to haunt him in more ways than one when Aaron ends up his student and a temptation that he has to avoid at all cost.

This story has quite a few coincidences that have the main characters colliding, as well as their troubled and not so troubled pasts returning to their lives. Both Aaron and Kenny are intriguing characters, both intelligent, struggling, and unusually attracted to the other. Excellent writing that definitely keeps the suspense and tension going. This is not a romance per se, just straight forward lust with some obsession that is the start of a relationship that will span the trilogy, with some interesting secondary characters and a serial killer stalking close again. I am invested to see where this story leads and how Aaron and Kenny might find an HEA. Props for the song titled chapters.

This audio listen after reading the book seemed more visceral and even more gritty if that’s possible. I love Piers Ryman and his growly drawl as he emphasizes the descriptive writing. Stellar.

The story of Kenny and Aaron is written between mysteries to be solved and a past that Aaron tries to leave behind but never manages to do so.

Piers Ryman does a spectacular job as narrator. He differentiates the voices, making the listener enjoy it twice as much.

I love it
