The fantastic storyline

I’ve listened to EVERY Penelope Ward book and this is by far my favorite! The great characters and storyline had me right from the start. Loved this so much!

Just the best

I have been reading or listening to Penelope for Years. And I have to say every book I think gets better and better.This story has your emotions going from crying to sweet feeling to upset. It definitely has it's ups and downs. I will say that steamy scenes wow, they will have you wiggling in your seat. That's how steamy they are. And the Narrators nailed it they did such a good job of bringing this story to life. perfection. The story is absolutely enteraining. I would call it a page turner because you just don't want to stop.

Only second to Drunk Dial.

I absolutely loved House Guest. Characters, narration, story…. Flawless. Thanks again Penelope for entertaining me so much!

Primrose & Dorian

Penelope is one of my go-to authors that whenever a new book comes out I instantly need to read or in this case listen! First off, I like the change in narrators. Most of her books have the same narrators and after a while it gets redundant listening to the same voices. Also love how it was done in duet style! I went into this book blind my oh my did Penelope deliver with her story! I was instantly immersed in the love story of Primrose and Dorian and all the other characters. I felt their chemistry, happiness and struggles right along with them. Loved how the story flowed and the plot twist was twisting and angst kept me wanting more! This has to be one of my top 5 books from Penelope Ward!! I absolutely loved The House Guest!

The House Guest, a poignant and captivating contemporary romance from Penelope Ward, was an unputdownable read that simmered with tension, heartfelt emotion and irresistible chemistry. Primrose, a free-spirited art student, finds herself living under the same roof as Dorian, the brooding, controlled heir to his father’s billion-dollar empire, and their worlds collide in the most delicious way. Despite their opposing stations and natures, a connection blossoms between them built on stolen glances, intellectual sparks and a magnetic pull that neither can deny.

Ward wove this opposites attract romance by crafting a story where every interaction crackled with possibility. Dorian and Primrose navigate family complications, societal expectations, and their own guarded hearts on a journey as tender as it was turbulent. The slow-burn build-up of their relationship made their eventual union feel earned, intensely satisfying and a perfect blend of their heartfelt vulnerability. Of course it wouldn’t be a Penelope Ward romance without a serious plot twist, and this one features a real doozie and that’s all I’m saying on that.

I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated in duet by Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood. These narrators were extremely well matched, and they delivered the kind of chemistry-filled performance that these characters demanded. Full of soul and sophistication, this was a sexy, consuming read about a love that felt both destined to be and hard won. The House Guest by Penelope Ward gets five smooches from me!

An Emotional Ride

This was a fantastic listen!

This story is done in duet style narration and the first half of the story is told only in the FMCs POV but once we get to part 2 it switches to dual POV as there are a few chapters in the MMCs POV (not as many, but a few).

I am a sucker for a Penelope Ward book as she is one of my insta-buy authors and her audiobooks are always some of my favorites. This one did not disappoint! Teddy and Savannah pair so well together as their voices and performances match so beautifully. You could feel the emotion and heartache in their voices throughout the story.

This second chance romance story has a bit of everything; angst, heart ache, push and pull and good spice. All of it felt so real and so emotional and seeing how they managed to make their way back to one another was so perfect.

The only downside (without going into spoilers) was that some of the plot points fell a bit flat and felt like they didn’t serve a lot of purpose to the story as well as the FMCs lack of reaction to the news of why things ended between them. She sort of just accepted things too easy without any sort of fight, anger or questioning and it felt pretty boring.

Primrose and Dorian’s story

I was hooked from the very beginning and didn’t want it to end. Primrose and Dorian have a forced proximity situation and the pair experience a shaky beginning. Dorian quickly has a change of heart and they quickly form a bond. Both have been through tragedies that have shaped their lives and continue to plague them. There are a couple of unexpected plot twists and I didn’t know what would become of their relationship. Trust the process though, Penelope never fails at bringing a great happily ever after. I read and listened to this story, and Savannah and Teddy did a phenomenal job. The duet style narration enhanced the storyline. This book is sheer enjoyment!

Wonderful book

This is one of the best-written books I've read yet. Great story that held my attention all the way through. So many tear-jerker moments, which to me is a sign of a great book. I haven't been disappointed in a Penelope Ward book yet, but I think this one tops them all.
