While a hurricane slams the tourist strewn coast, a killer runs amok in the storm. A group of vacationers are pinned down in the midst of the danger.

It was supposed to be Kaitlyn and Logan's wedding day. The storm was supposed to hit 90 miles south of here.

There's no safety in the storm.

The rain pours. The wind rips. The sea crashes up onto the land.

Water main? That broke.

Now floodwater gushes through the city streets. Gallons and gallons. Engulfing cars and surging up around the buildings.

Brickwork crumbles. Roofs get torn off.

And a killer walks among the devastation.
He takes advantage of the chaos. Finds his victims trapped like flies on sticky paper, penned in by the raging storm. And he means to play with his new pets.

Yeah, you can run but you can't hide.

Kaitlyn and Logan and all of their wedding party find themselves cornered. Captured. Picked off one by one by both the hurricane and the psychopath.

And the storm only grows more fierce. The flood only gets higher. The killer only draws closer and closer.

They have to find a way out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved that there were so many plots but they were all connected and easy to follow. It was consistently frightening! You really got to understand all the characters. This couple has many books and they are all worthwhile reading or listening too!

The many plots that were just one!

This book was somewhat humorous at times tho I am not sure it was intended. It was long with one disaster after another. And some of the characters were not very bright or impossibly naive. Kind of like a horror movie where the audience is yelling “don’t open that door” to the unwitting actor. The story line wasn’t bad but a little too long.

What else could go wrong?

Fantastic! Thrilling and even touching at times. The twist of being trapped in a storm while fighting for your life from a killer as well was exceptionally thrilling. Chef's kiss. Just wonderful... in a very dark way.

About a month ago I read and reviewed Kiss of Death. Today I finished listening to the audiobook for Kiss of Death expertly narrated by Audrey Solara. My feelings about the book haven’t changed, and my original review of the story is included below this update.

I originally said I’d love to see this book as a movie. Well, listening to Audrey’s narration was as close as you can get without the video experience.

Audrey brought each character to life not only through individual voices, but she gave each of them personalities that made me wonder if I was listening to each character tell their own stories. Each of the characters’ attitudes and voices are still in front of mind. but I can remember listening to two of them, Tina, and Aunt Barb, and thinking these women are the kind of relatives you avoid at all costs.

eBook review from 6/24/25

Kiss of Death, the second book in the Shadows of Love series, is a roller coaster ride of action and suspense. I’ve read books where I wondered where the title came from or how it relates to the story I just read. But there is no question how the title relates to this book, it’s as if the angel of death showed up for a party of sorts.

The basic story of a wedding, a hurricane and a protentional serial killer is a match made for mayhem and lots of high anxiety inducing action. While I’ve read thirty-six books by L.T. Vargus and Tim McBain before Kiss of Death, I honestly can’t remember one that got its hooks into me so deep and refused to let go. I mean, two days later and I’m still seeing several of the scenes from the book. I’d love to see this as a movie. If it were done just like the book, there would be no popcorn trips once it started.

If you enjoy a good murder mystery thriller you owe it to yourself to grab a copy of Kiss of Death and settle in for one of the wildest rollercoaster rides of mayhem in your life.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of Kiss of Death and chose to provide my review.

An awesome action-packed thriller!

Book1 in this series was good - great! So much so I immediately started the 2nd. The storyline for book 2 was good (great) for awhile, but there's only so many things that can happen before it starts being repetitive and drawn out. Almost like the authors had a word quota they were trying to meet, but a lack of plot twists conceived. OVERALL the narrator was amazing to listen to, story was entertaining and engaging for the 1st half or so. I wanted to love this as much as the 1st book, but the repetitive twists were too much. The ending was cool.
If there's a 3rd book I will take it for a spin because I do believe this author duo produced an amazing 1st book. There's great potential there.

Good story, but drawn out
