Don't settle for a man who tells you he loves you. Choose one who shows you.

When my mom passed, I made her a promise that I'd take care of my little sister. Then I found out my fiancé tricked me into draining her trust fund.

There's only one thing to do—make it right. At all costs. It's my job to protect her… and I failed.

Luckily, I come across a job opening as an executive assistant in a new state. Between the generous salary and a place to stay, it's a no-brainer. Time to start over.

The only problem is that my new boss is a nightmare. The job description left out the part about working for Las Vegas's biggest billionaire bosshole. And the worst part? He's trying to get rid of me.

But Nathan Hatcher is dead wrong if he thinks his permanent scowl and impossible tasks are enough to make me quit. I only need to survive one year to secure the salary advance. Besides, what's far scarier than my boss is the idea of letting my mom and sister down.

But it's not long before I realize that there's a fine line between hate and lust. A tragic secret lies behind Nathan's broody stare, and the man I loathe may want me more than he hates me.

Even worse? With the way my heart races every time he enters a room… I seem to want him too.

Selfie is book three in the Lessons in Love series, but can be enjoyed as a complete standalone.

This is one of the good ones! I've loved every book in this series. This one was triggering in spots for me. Having been on the receiving end of bullying over my weight most of my life, I can relate to Spencer trying to quiet and ignore the voices in her head. The voices that say, "You'd be so pretty if you lost weight." or "You could get a man if you lost weight." "You have such a pretty face, If you could just get in shape." Or being passed over when my Daddy introduced me to one of his former coworkers and the guy said he was too busy for dating, only to change his tune when my Bonus Mom showed a picture of my sister. Then he said, "You should bring her by." It strikes me as funny that some people dismiss me because I'm curvy, pretending I'm invisible, even though they are so focused on how much space I take up. Well, the jokes on them. I, much like Spencer, have a man who loves me no matter what I weigh. He works out with me at the gym and tries his best to quiet the voices when they start crowding my mind. I love reading how Nate broke through her brain blocks to the Spencer behind the walls. And the way he defended her was chef's kiss great! Thank you, Kay!

So Good!

I will gladly sign up to be a personal assistant for a hot billionaire after reading this story. If it can happen in fiction, it can happen to me, right?? I love Nate. I love his grumpy ways, his need for control, and even a little bit of his attitude. But I also love the way that he cares in the quiet moments, or how he loves so hard and so thoroughly. Spencer needed his type of love, and Nate needed her type of love too. They were there for eachoter during a lot of personal growth, and I think that really allowed them to lower their walls and let the other see inside. This was gorgeous - it made me laugh and made me feel. What more could I ask for?

Spencer & Nate

I loved these two! Their story was the perfect storm of a loathe to love, single “parent”, billionaire, workplace, forced proximity, and love after loss. I feel like Kay did a really good job of showing the huge range of emotions Nate felt after he lost Elise and then Ruby took Claire, and my heart hurt for him while feeling those emotions with him, even after four years. The reconciliation was beautiful, though! I loved how Spencer supported him through all of those hardships. I also love how much Nate wanted to take care of Spencer and Charlie. He’s such a good man that truly does show his love instead of just talking about it. These two are too sweet!

Loved it!

I read this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, as much as I have loved this whole series, the first is still my favorite. I related to Spencer and her anxieties over her body dysmorphia and enjoyed hearing the inner thoughts of Nathan when he thought about her and her body.

FMC Spencer is the sole guardian of her younger sister, Charlie. The two moved across the country so Spencer could take a job as the assistant to MMC Nathan, a billionaire real estate investor. Spencer has no money, and this job gave her a year salary advance to help get her settled into her new home. Before Spencer can even start her job, she meets Nathan at a restaurant and flirted the night away, neither of them knowing they’d be working with each other the next Monday. Nathan is dealing with his own personal issues and doesn’t need an assistant butting into his job and life, but he just can’t keep away from Spencer.

I read and listened to this book and enjoyed both.

A few thoughts I had while reading this book: as the parent of a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl, the portrayal of Charlie as a 10-year-old girl didn’t quite work. She just felt too young and it was a little jarring. Some of the things she would say were things a 6-year-old might say. The obsession with bath bombs and a skincare routine was spot on, however!

Great read!

I loved Camera Shy and Snapshot A LOT! This one not so much. Bummer, I was looking really forward to this book. Still a Kay Cove fan but I really didn’t care for this book.
