Can a librarian's matchmaking mischief lead to a love that rewrites their stories?
If the covers of every romance book ever published didn't convince librarian Evangeline Kelly that she isn't heroine material, her fiancé calling off their wedding when she lost her hair to alopecia did. But what's a girl head over heels for love to do when her feelings are unrequited? Matchmake, that's what. Armed with library patrons' check-out histories, she's determined to make at least one love connection—even if it's not her own.
Tattoo artist Tai Davis is used to people judging him with a single glance, so it doesn't surprise him when the town's quirky new librarian believes his bad-boy reputation without giving him a chance. He can't help being intrigued by her, though, so when he discovers Evangeline's secret matchmaking scheme, he's not above striking a bargain with her. She just has to agree to one date with him for every time she uses his hometown knowledge to set up library patrons on a romantic rendezvous. The deal is made, but in the process, they both might learn you can't judge a book—or each other—by the cover.
"With a uniquely heartfelt message, lovable characters, and laugh-out-loud moments, Sarah Monzon's novel is a delight!"—MELISSA FERGUSON, bestselling author of How to Plot a Payback
This is a sweet he-falls-first, opposites attract, matchmaker romantic comedy with disability representation. Perfect for fans of books about books and kisses-only romances.

One thing that made this book extra meaningful for me is that the heroine has a form of alopecia. I have Alopecia Areata myself, and even though I haven’t had an episode in a while, it was encouraging to see that representation. It’s not something I come across often in fiction, and Sarah Monzon handled it with authenticity and care.
The romance was wholesome and charming, with a great mix of humor, faith, and heart. A wonderful story overall, and I’ll definitely be checking out more from this author!
So refreshing to see this in fiction!!

Evangeline Kelly’s a librarian who has given up on love for herself but vows to help others find love. She’s been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder, alopecia, which caused her to lose her hair. Abandoned by her fiancé after her diagnosis, she determines she’s not heroine material.
Tai Davis is a tattoo artist who’s used to being misjudged as a bad boy. When a cute new librarian moves into town, he’d like to get to know her despite her pushing him away at every turn. When he discovers her matchmaking scheme, he strikes a bargain with her to go out with him in exchange for information about her potential matches.
Evangeline has my heart. In many ways, I can relate to her & I was cheering her on to fully embrace herself & not care about what others think. Tai is an absolute hero in every way. He’s lovably persistent & doesn’t let Evangeline hide herself away or give up on love. He definitely raises the bar as the perfect book boyfriend.
There were so many moments that touched my heart & also made me laugh. The author expertly captures the devastation of permanent hair loss, especially for women, but tempers the sorrow with humor, faith, an amazing romance, & lovely messages of embracing who you are. I loved the witty dialogue, the baseball game, all the embarrassing wig issues she faces, the squirrel marriage, & the phoenix.
I listened to the audiobook version & adored the narrator! Allyson Morgan really adds the emotional depth to this amazing story. I enjoyed the way she voiced each character & really brought them to life.
Full of sweet tender romance, laugh out loud moments, & heartfelt faith, this is an absolute must read! Highly recommend to clean romance & sweet romcom fans. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher but also purchased the audiobook version. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.
Heartfelt, endearing romance!

The ending is perhaps a bit cheesy but not over the top… And I won’t get into how improbable Ty’s perfect character is ☺️
Content:
There is no foul language, sex, or violence. The romance is limited to mildly descriptive kisses. This is a Christian book, with mentions of faith, prayer, God, and His love.
A fun Christian rom-com

I think well written. The book does a good job of explaining how hard it is for a woman to lose her good looks. I found myself empathizing with Evangeline in this.
This is a book about a woman’s self esteem. I think it is written for women who feel bad about themselves. They are the words women want to hear to make themselves feel better.
The difficulty I have with the book is that issue is loss of beauty, but instead of reinforcing that other things matter more than physical beauty, the book still “fixes” her problems by having someone tell her she is physically beautiful and that he loves her. This is what women want to hear, but I’m not sure that’s what they need to hear to fix problems like Evangeline had.
It was a painful book in some ways. I think maybe for me the book took a little too long explaining Evangeline’s distress and a little too short about the positive things she does to deal with it. Her reactions felt like junior high school sometimes. I was glad that the book began the resolution about 2 hours before the end.
One thing that is good about the book is that it reminds readers not to judge people by their looks. I really think that is the book’s greatest value. The writing is excellent in dramatizing this truth.
The book also has some wonderful laugh out loud moments. It is truly funny.
Bottom Line: The book is good because it is funny but also truthfully conveys how a woman feels self-conscious because of her looks. The heroine Evangeline is wallowing in self pity and shame because of her looks (which annoyed me at times), but this makes the hero even more amazing. Ty is a truly gallant hero. He is what every woman would want, funny, loving, faithful. He is definitely swoon worthy!
Swoony Hero
