Awash with loss and surrounded by enemies, Van and his crew are faced with the same challenge Mark Tudor dealt with decades earlier.

Does Van accept the crown and become a Master?

The Guild is in shambles. The 32 might be a myth. And an entire race has chosen Van Tudor as their enemy—and they'll stop at nothing to end his life in the name of power and money.

The threat isn't just among the stars. For the first time in his career, Van must protect his home planet from people who look at humans as a resource—and Peacemakers as the key to untold wealth. With Van's decision comes long-term effects and an Earth that is no longer alone in the universe, but connected to the stars...

And at risk from every danger in known space.

The decision is now. The battle is now. And the crown is heavier than one Peacemaker might be able to carry—unless he has a little help from his friends.

My biggest dislike is how long I have to wait for the next in the Series. I am well and truly hooked!

Good, engaging story. Great characters, well delivered.

I did enjoy the story but I found some characters' names have been changed to be pronounced differently, which is really a minor detail, but still after sixteen books makes a difference. The entire Back-and-forth of Van. Be a master, don't be a master. It's actually annoying because if you recall back in the early books he stated he would take up the mantle if ever offered to him. He did not wish to be like his grandfather and avoid the opportunity to make a positive change. And yet here we have him doing just that.. There really isn't anything about the 32 in this book. Other than one line reference, but I feel it is pastime. Two just pull back the The curtain on that, if they're really calling the shots as so claimed and such a digital imp. Paperwork oriented Guild. There has to be some record somewhere of who ordered something to be done, such as giving instructions to a Master.

The ending was entertaining, though I think it's something we all saw coming for quite a while where there was gonna be that confrontation. The involvement of ICE was amusing though as was the AF Officer being asked about Slavery. I reaaaaally want to see how this all plays out and I hope it doesn't get c
glossed over.

too short, forgotten info

The book is like listening to a great TV show in the 21st century. I could really understand how people were back in the day when they listened to shows on the radio, and this is what this author and narrator do for me when I listen to this book.

Good story, almost like a great TV 📺 series
