A sharp-witted, debut high fantasy farce featuring killer moat squid, toxic masculinity, evil wizards, and a garlic festival-all at once.

It's bad enough waking up in a half-destroyed evil wizard's workshop with no eyebrows, no memories, and no idea how long you have before the Dread Lord Whomever shows up to murder you horribly and then turn your skull into a goblet or something.

It's a lot worse when you realize that Dread Lord Whomever is . . . you.

Gav isn't really sure how he ended up with a castle full of goblins, or why he has a princess locked in a cell. All he can do is play along with his own evil plan in hopes of getting his memories back before he gets himself killed.

But as he realizes that nothing-from the incredibly tasteless cloak adorned with flames to the aforementioned princess-is quite what it seems, Gav must face up to all the things the Dread Lord Gavrax has done. And he'll have to answer the hardest question of all-who does he want to be?

A high fantasy farce featuring killer moat squid, toxic masculinity, an evil wizard convocation, and a garlic festival. All at once. All in all, Dread Lord Gavrax has had better weeks.

This wasn’t quite as funny as the summary led me to believe. It was also a skosh past the cozy or kids’ book genre, with at least one witch (with a capital B) and talk of obtaining demon seed and virgin’s blood for a summoning ritual.

But, this was nonetheless a fun, sly, and fresh take on a dark wizard tale. It felt a bit like Megamind meets Princess Bride and a lot like a YA version of L.G. Estrella’s Two Necromancer’s series. All of which made this right up my fantasy, and garlic, loving alley.

Cthulhu Lite … is that a thing?

Loved this narrator. Extremely talented. The story was very entertaining but the ending was a little confusing and unsatisfying. I miss fairytale endings.

Brilliant narrator imaginative story

I loved this book. It is such a funny concept and the narrator did an amazing job. I wish I could spend more time with Gav and his Goblin friends.

The voice acting for Gav was amazing.

the story was entertaining but the progress of getting through the story was too slow, painfully slow. I dreaded when the main character would begin to reflect. It happened too often, and took him too long. The positive side? I feel like the story is original, funny and the narrator did a good job.
