An engineer finds himself in an alternate reality, Cornwall, in the year 715 A.D. He awakens in the body of a young Baron.

Retired Lieutenant General, former head of the Army Corp of Engineers, lies dying at the age of ninety-two. Leading a full life, he is a decorated veteran of World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam.

His love of engineering has him taking university courses his entire life. When his health falters, and he can no longer continue his education, MIT awards him an honorary PhD in Professional Studenting.

After a long illness, he lies dying. His last thought is, "What a waste of such wonderful knowledge."

As he fades to black, the fun begins. He is to build a modern civilization without being burned as a witch!

As evidenced by the 6.5 hr runtime, this is a light series that does not take the time to properly craft character stories and instead jumps right into modern marvel introductions into dark age society. This is fun if you want the instant gratification of imagining the effect such introductions could have on this kind of society and what could have been. This series could have been a new take on A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's court, but falls short in comparison with the lack of character development and a break neck speed of introducing innovations. I wouldn't spend a credit, but the story is worth picking up if on sale.

Light on Story, Quick with Tech Introductions

Daniel Thomas May is able to read dry facts, figures, and formulas in an engaging way. He was able to make listening to how hard iron and steel are made interest from the story. Enjoyed his Apocalypse redux audios and picked up this book which I’ve read because he was the main narrator. I will continue to get the baron cast in time series from Ed Nelson when I see if done continues to record them. Thanks for performing this book. I loved it.

I love Daniel Thomas May’s performance

I think these books are to short. they really need to make 2 book bundles to make it worth the credit. other than that I enjoyed the story and the authors ability to seamlessly keep the book moving. he could've expounded on topics to make these books longer and give them more flesh in my opinion. the only thing I didnt really enjoy was how fast he was able to introduce some technologies. from chemistry to engineering he didn't seem to have very many road blocks in his way.

the books pace.

great story and now I can't wait for the next book to come out. this story felt like the 1632 ring of fire series.

great story with the feel of the 1632 ring of fire.

I have searched years for another author on Audible I could truly enjoy since discovering L. Dahners. I have been forced to re-listen to many I do enjoy, until now. Ed Nelson's title: Cast In Time, captured my imagination on the sample, and he has mercilessly captured my credits for the series. This is not a rare kind of plot, but Mr. Nelson skillfully avoids any monotony yet tantalizingly sprinkles modern technical knowledge onto his deeply enriched characters. Well done ! ...and thank you for many hours of enjoyment imagining life in this brutal world thirsting for better lives and being quenched.

EXCELLENT !
