While acting as a locum in London, young Dr. Strangeways is called to treat a woman following a violent attack by her drug-addled husband. I like most Dr. Thorndyke stories but not all. I almost quit listening to this one but I was really glad I finished it.

Ingenious

I'm a big fan of the Thorndyke stories which are reliable, feel good mysteries of the scientific type. This one had me going even though I had a few alternative endings in mind. Graham Scott narrated beautifully as usual. Caveat - there are some unavoidable sexist references reflecting the culture of the time in which it was written.
