Represents it's time

I enjoyed it but I'm a sucker for stories typical of the age, wanting to sound modern and sophisticated but actually quite traditional. The plot is contrived and the characters are one dimensional, but still diverting and cozy if you like setting and dialogue that represents that era in England. Unfortunately some anti-Semitic lines.

Excellent performance elevated a slow story

This mystery owes much to Whose Body by Sayers, but is much more slowly paced. The excellent performance and good ending the audio book to 4 stars. Recommended

Give it a try

A little slow to get going but then was really enjoyable. I will be reading more by John Rhode.

As a big fan of this author (John Rhode, Miles Burton, et al), I would purchase each and every Professor Priestly book, were they in audiobook form on Audible.

Classic Mystery

The British mysteries of the pulp era just have more beauty in the prose and very intriguing puzzles. Whenever one can find such early twentieth century books offered (for they seem to be harder to find now in print or offered as an audiobook) one must grab it.

I just tend to find current mysteries somewhat lacking in the writing. The Paddington Mystery is a gem.
