Good book, but a little slow in places.

This is a good book, but sometimes the descriptions are a bit too detailed. I also find the multiple plots hard to remember when I only read this during my exercise for 30 minutes a day.

Best of the series so far

This series just keeps getting better. So much going on with a great mix of characters.

Wild mashup that works!

Loved Rosone’s Monroe Doctrine and other series, so decided to give this a try. Imagine if Tom Clancy decided to write a sci fi series that crammed Battlestar, Expeditionary Force, Stargate, Starship Troopers, and anything else that came to mind into a huge epic that explores human origins and our future. That is this series. It borrows heavily from a crap load of sources, and guess what? It works out great! Loads of fun- blowing thru this series at max warp! Great performances as well.

Amazing story line so far!!!! You really get in the story! The characters are built up really well and the story is easy to fallow!

Very good story, waiting for more, but….

This is truly an epic story. It really follows in the traditions of the classic space opera. I find myself really enjoying the storyline, writers knowledge of military and procurement, R&D, and really the whole nine yards. I also like the way that Shipyards are portrayed, supported, posited in this book. However, there are only two things that I would change if I could. 1. Too many high casualty battles, usually when Military forced attack they go for a significant advantage, I believe 3:1, but am not an expert. There us too much “We’re going to die”, “Now”. A little less if that please.
2. Too many subplots in my opinion. They are a great literative device but too many in depth subplots about some people you may care about but not really want to hear about.

Also I do not know why they have not thought about it, maybe it will be at the end, but if a “Plasma shot” Hokes a big. Attkeship like a rotten apple, why don’t you put up platforms of these things at all the Stargates? Tremendous power consumption, but have more reactors, have a gun mount shaped in the position of a wheel with about six different barrels you could rotate the station on to pop those plasma shots out like popcorn? Just my .02 worth on that. It I enjoy the series, really a good one and well worth it. I have heard far worse!
