There was just one problem: a discovery by Dr. Katō Sakura could change everything.

The mysterious Humtars had left behind the stargates. But why did their vast empire disappear? If Dr. Sakura kept searching, would she unlock Pandora’s box?

Solid story for a middle of a series…

The story further develops on Zodarks and finally tells more about their society. I liked the build up to the next part where story moves into the conflict with them, because now there are multiple avenues of the story except just fight/die options. Great work to transition the series into something much bigger and more complex.

Can’t wait for next book.

I like the spin on this military sci-fi. Switching from overt power struggles to spy craft is just what happens at the end of the war.

“The empire strikes back” meets rise of the republic

Slow in parts, but very well written and performed by J. Davis. Excellent story and set op for the rest of the series. 5/5 stars no doubt

I love this series and the development of the story line. Please keep the books coming!

A little slow.

Overalls still very good. The series is fantastic. This book is perhaps a little detail oriented and is most likely providing background information which will fit into the next book which I look forward to. Still a great author and great series.

Great overall addition to series

This book did, indeed, calm things down a bit, moving into spy fiction for the first time. The spy parts were not as good, I feel, as the military parts, but they kept my attention well. I can certainly see the need to include them. The entire series is optimistic, and everyone gets along with each other in not so realistic ways, but that kind of what I appreciate about the series: it’s unabashed embracing of positivity and genial respect. So this book is another great addition to the series as a whole.

Too many words

Interesting premise, great reader, but way too useless info which distracted from the story and made it burdensome to Liston to at times. I stopped the books at times and move on to other things. I did finally finish Lots of coping of concepts from other better written stories.

Rise of the Republic | Deus ex Machina

This author from the beginning of this series has made choices to force the story be the story he wanted, instead of letting the story naturally evolve. This entry really takes that to another level. Guys scratching out a living, they find gold right on time. There are no heroes there are just guys with plot armor.

Now the good part is that James Rosone spends a lot of time writing about intelligence services, spies and multiple people doing ... mostly terrible things. But still he loves to say "the Army DELTAs" are super heroes. The Army Rangers are Marines, the Army ... you get it. A problem, send a sprinkle a little Army and it gets better. Space battles, we need millions of Army guys to be targets on plants for our enemies to bombard. James fetichizes the US Army and thus only forces things one way.

The Republic gets dumb (um ok, if you are from this planet you are out of here sorry not sorry), the enemy get smart, but things keep going right in general. I do like James Rosone killing off people. That is pretty kool. I also like new people coming across old battles. That was pleasantly jarring.

Performance is getting better.
