Audiobook to put you in a Halloween mood. At first the narrator threatened to ruin this one for me, but Ms. Maxwell does find her stride early on. TG! Once she does the pace really picks up as this horror story unfolds. It’s interesting that our heroes are a couple that are written as the ugliest possible Americans, completely self absorbed, somewhat obnoxious, totally convinced of their superpower supremacy in any foreign land. It may be just my own discomfort at recognizing my American attitude in them. Either way it makes the French locals seem very French and very foreign. I found myself secretly rooting for the monsters. Who ever you find yourself cheering for, this audiobook is horrifically fun.
