Fledgling witch Emeranth Greer is determined to escape her past and make a fresh start in Shadowvale with the aunt she’s never met. Her aunt and the town prove to be far better than she imagined. There’s no way Em is leaving this magical place. Especially when staying means more time with the handsome Deacon.

But when Em’s troubled past catches up with her and nearly destroys the romance budding between her and Deacon, her instinct is to run again. Except there’s magic in the mix now, and the town won’t let her leave. Only Deacon can save her, but can a cursed man clear her name...or will her history destroy them both?

amazing

The reader was amazing the story was so great! I loved it all! It really felt like I was there. I couldnt just listen in the car I had to listen at home just so I could keep going lol!

Fun Listen

It was a fun listen, but not my favorite from Kristen Painter. I'm not sure if I love Shadowvale as much as Nocturne Falls, but I'm still looking forward to the next installment.

Wrong narrator

The narrator would be better suited for a children’s book. I almost couldn’t make it though the story because of him. He’s not a bad narrator per say, just not the right one for this genre. I may pick up another book by this author but not if the same narrator is used.

Wonderful story. Wonderful narration. A joy to indulge in this first story in Kristen Painter’s newest series.

The Trouble with Witches

Shadowvale is a wonderful a new town created by the author.
I enjoyed reading about it and Emeranth and Deacon.

Thoreau, the tiger, really captured my interest. I am hoping that he
is Emeranth's aunt's lost love.

I would love to read about Shadowvale's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
I am hoping that will be a future book in the series.

The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. I hope that he narrates all of the books in the series.
