Twelve humans are left stranded on a wintry alien planet. I'm one of them. Yay, me. In order to survive, we have to take on a symbiont that wants to rewire our bodies to live in this brutal place. I like to call it a cootie. And my cootie's a jerk, because it also thinks I'm the mate to the biggest, surliest alien of the group.
Contains mature themes.

It took me most of this book to warm up to Liz…and she’s still probably never going to be a favourite of mine. She’s abrasive, rude, sarcastic, and she borders on mean and uncaring. She needs a beat on the head to bring out her empathy. It’s not that I don’t get where she’s coming from, but my poor sensitive heart is just always going to be wary of harsher women like Liz. Which is not to say there’s anything wrong with her, just that I can’t always connect. I did feel for her past, how she missed her Dad, how she was freaking tired of having all her choices taken away. And when she finally figured her shiznit out, I appreciated that she went after what she wanted with a tenacity that knew no bounds.
Raahosh was his own mixed up bag of crazy. But I did appreciate that at least he had reasons for being so…paranoid and possessive. I loved the way he took care of Liz at the beginning, making it doubly hard to watch Liz not give him any credit. I mean, don’t get me wrong, he made some bad choices. But I felt like he held out 5 million olive branches before one was taken.
I really loved the way their relationship turned after a certain tense event, and in the end I couldn’t picture a better match for both of them. They just suited one another to a tee.
This is definitely going to be a fun series to just check in on and devour another one whenever I’m feeling in the mood for something out of the ordinary.
Strong ending...
