NYPD Detective Alec MacAidan has always been good with weird. After all, his life has been a string of the unexplainable. But when an injured man gives him cryptic clues, then turns to dust in front of him, Alec's view on weird is changed forever.

Cronin, a vampire Elder, has spent the last 1,000 years waiting for Alec. He'd been told his fated one would be a man wielding a shield, but he didn't expect him to be human, and he certainly didn't expect that shield to be a police badge.

Both men, strong-willed and stubborn, are still learning how to cope with the push and pull of being fated, when fate throws them another curveball.

Rumors have spread quickly of turmoil in Egypt. Covens are fleeing with news of a vampire who has a talent like no other, hell-bent on unleashing the wrath of Death.

Alec and Cronin are thrown into a world of weird Alec cannot imagine. What he learned in school of ancient pharaohs and Egyptian gods was far from the truth. Instead, he finds out firsthand that history isn't always what it seems.

I just have to say. OMG. I started this audible book on a Saturday and finished the next day. I grabbed my attention at the very start. At times it was very erotica, but not dirty. I am not much on the wishey washer love stories. But I had to buy the next book to see what happens next. The performance of the book was incredible the narrated Joel Leslie was able to pull in into the story because of the various accents, the Scottish accents was sexiest dam thing I have heard in a long time. I bet whoever finishes this will have to go buy Cronin's Key II. Well done......

Hot, sexy could not put down

If you're expecting high literary standards, this might not be the best book for you. But if you want a perfect vampire romance, READ THIS.

Great book

Wow! It has been an extremely long time since I listen to a book all the way thru without stopping one time! This is an action packed m/m vampire romance, and it was great!

This was my first N.R. Walker book, and I am so glad I finally listen to it. It has been sitting in my library for about 6 mths, and I kept passing it over for some other listen...but finally, I listen and I enjoyed this book so much, I went ahead and purchased books 2 and 3!

Narration was awesome, as only Joel Leslie could be... He is great with accents!

Great buy, credit or sale!! Well worth the wait, but I shouldn't waited!!! I totally enjoyed it!

WOW! Great Listen!!!

I loved the well developed story of this book. Sometimes when an author seeks to 're-imagine' history it can go wildly astray and the story suffers for it but in this case it truly didn't it made you think..holy crap that could really be a sort of alternate truth.

The love story between Cronin and Alec is fun and passionate and the characters surrounding them do far more than merely support the MC's. Jodis and Eiji are compelling and make me want to know more about their story.

So glad I took a chance on this one because it paid off bigtime! Joel's narration is spot on as always not sorry in the slightest to add this one to my re-read/listen to library (I've listened to it 3 times already just in case I missed anything ;-) )

The story and the world building is extraordinary. The innovative use of readily available data and the development of a new vision of ancient Egypt and the “true” use of pyramids is impressive.
