Publisher's summary

Nobody cheats death. A warrior haunted by his past, Salim Ghadafar serves as a problem-solver for a church he hates, bound by the goddess of death to hunt down those who would rob her of her due. Such is the case in the desert nation of Thuvia, where a powerful merchant on the verge of achieving eternal youth via a magical elixir is mysteriously murdered, his soul kidnapped somewhere along its path to the afterlife. The only clue is a magical ransom note, offering to trade the merchant's successful resurrection for his dose of the fabled potion. But who would have the power to steal a soul from the boneyard of Death herself?

Enter Salim, whose keen mind and contacts throughout the multiverse should make solving this mystery a cinch. There's only one problem: The investigation is being financed by Neila Anvanory, the dead merchant's stubborn and aristocratic daughter. And she wants to go with him. Along with his uninvited passenger, Salim must unravel a web of intrigue that will lead them far from the blistering sands of Thuvia on a grand tour of the Outer Planes, where devils and angels rub shoulders with fey lords and mechanical men, and nothing is as it seems....

Fabulously performed!

The narrator does a Phenomenal job, until you get to the female parts, then it gets weird. Get women narrators to do the female segments!!

it's pretty good

Women's voices could have been better. Wish they'dve hired a lady for the lady voices

Tragedy it's only one book, not an entire series.

The only flaw is that there's too much world creation for this to simply be just one tale. Salim truly needs his own actual series. Imagine if there was only one Harry Dresden book ever written, but with all the other characters mentioned. There's so much backdrop and potential characters to easily create a 10 or even 15-part story. Amazing characters could easily have their own short stories and spin offs.

A wonderful story

With fantastic characterization of both the story and the voice over, Death's Heretic was a very enjoyable listen for me as I drove to and from work.

great story

tried this because paizo offered it for free and I've enjoyed the books. This reader was fabulous, all different voices made it easy to tell who was speaking and to follow the action. I'll definitely be looking up more that he has read. as for the Pathfinder tales, they are a fun way to experience the world when you don't have a game going.

great author, great voice actor

the only reason it got 4/5 was because his other works were more interesting, and harder to predict.

still an excellently well told tale, and I'm looking forward to another!

Great Pathfinder story!

If you're looking for somewhere to start in the pathfinder series of novels, look no further! This story does a great job of tackling some of the more fantastic concepts of the pathfinder universe and making them fit together in a plausible manner.

Possible spoilers: this story explores some of the other planes of existence and the gods that shape them. Very interesting. Highly recommended.

Good but but not that good.

I appreciated it but there could have been more depth. it was missing something crucial to make it great.
