Acerca de esta escucha

Returned to Earth, Ellen Ripley learns that a colony has been established on LV-426, the planet where the crew of the Nostromo found the original Alien.

But contact with the colonists has been lost, so she must accompany a unit of colonial marines to discover their fate. And to destroy any Aliens found on the planet known as Acheron.

This is a groundbreaking sequel by science fiction legend Alan Dean Foster, with the wonderful characters and rapid-fire action that make Aliens one of the greatest science fiction films of all time.

Featured Article: The Best Sci-Fi Horror Audiobooks of All Time

Sci-fi and horror are two genres that just make sense together. Swap haunted mansions for abandoned space ships, ghosts for virus-created zombies and experiments gone wrong, and the eerie darkness of the woods for the deep vastness of space, and it’s easy to see why these two genres make for a classic, thrilling combination. Here are our picks for some of the best sci-fi horror audiobooks of all time.

Detailed Supporting Characters • Engaging Storyline • Suspenseful Plot • Faithful Adaptation • Intense Situations

In space, no one can hear you scream... On LV-426 there is plenty of that going on, plus pulse weapons, motion sensing trackers (one sound the movie uses dramatically well), smart guns, scampering of the spider-like alien parasites, & always entertaining banter between space marines. Similar to 'The Force Awakens' & novelizations they produce a few small twists & differences mainly due to readers ability to read/hear the characters own thoughts or additional descriptive depth. This book follows that route but for me 'Aliens' is a classic movie that helped sci-fi with its believable E.T. & viscerally terrorizing way these creatures produce young... The 1st movie had me grabbing my abdominal area reflexively for weeks after. But here, in this 2nd installment the reader see's what a platoon of hardened marines fare in a close encounter. Much more action, diff. Interactions between characters including Ripleys development, & consideration of the 'bigger picture'... What if a ship with a bunch of eggs survived a crash onto earth? Like the movie, the book is one you keep around to review for fun every so often! Well worth the credit if your a fan of franchise.

If you liked the movie, you'll love this. Great background on colonists and marines. Fun!

The real director's cut

It's adds to the story and it's really faithful to the movie but it doesn't have any of the cursing like the original.

It's PG-13 Aliens. No harsh language.

I iwish they did this book like the others with multiple characters voices but overall it's still a great listen. fills in some parts that are not in the movie

great story

Aliens is probably my favorite movie, and I read the book too, so I thought I knew what to expect. But William Hope's reading brings a range and color that adds a whole extra layer, even if you know the story already inside and out. He is not only an excellent actor (something that we could see little of, when he portrayed Gorman in the movie), but makes fun and quite accurate impressions of some of the characters, especially Bishop and Hicks. Also drinking game for you: have a shot when the word "instrumentation" is used... I never realized how much Foster loved this phrase. This audiobook is a must have for every Alien fan.

Awesome performance of an awesome novel

This is a PG 13 version of the film. However it came out before the directors cut and there is a lot of great stuff in here. I don’t mind a “clean” book. But this always lost a point with me for ditching the classic line. “Get away from her, you bitch!” Maybe Mr Foster didn’t count on it becoming an iconic line in Cinema history. Lol.

Everyone does a great job. This is exactly what the novelization should be. They cut out a favorite line but otherwise I’ve no complaints.

Does a great re-telling of the movie…

With this book the novelization book series hits its stride. This book goes beyond even the expanded edition of the movie directed by James Cameron. Alan Dean Foster gives even more character background and Wayland-Yutani corporate manipulation that you could possibly know from merely watching the movie.

William Hope had a tough job trying to top the brilliant and engaging characters in the movie. But he rises to the challenge and delivers a funny Hudson and a fleshed-out Hicks. All the Colonial Marines are well done; funny and gung-ho.

Colonial Marines and Xenomorphs

A great re-telling of the classic movie. The narrator does a good job with the voices, and for the most part, the story is as good as you remembered it, with some fleshing out.

My only complaint was the censorship of profanity, which, while not usually a concern, does change a number of VERY well known quotes, which does break the immersion. Not sure if it was censored in the book (probably) or just for the audio book (I'd be surprise), but I wish they had fixed it which ever way it was, regardless.

Flawed but still worthwhile

The book is always better then the movie. Movie cannot enscapuslate all the character development the book affords. I really enjoyed learning more about the characters are already knew and loved.

Loved the movie and love the book
