I Loved It, Now To Watch The Movie

Lots of twists and turns and connections with the Aliens come to light. I really enjoyed the book and I hope the movie us just as good. I really don't know why I missed seeing it in the 90's as I had seen all the others as they were released.

Not a good narration

Good story but the narration is terrible. I made it through the end because the story was good but it was hard to keep listening. Narrator needs a lot of work.

Entertaining but nothing really new that the movie

I love these movies, and I always love reading or listening to the book versions. Not the best out of the series, but still worth the listen

Interesting

Another great addition to the Alien series. Action packed and twisted plot. I thoroughly enjoyed the alien point of view it was interesting. The narration was perfectly performed. I definitely recommend this book.

Probably the best of the first four novelizations.

A while back I decided to punish myself for some reason by reading through the novelizations of the first four Alien movies for reasons I won't go into here. I generally dislike novelizations -- at least I dislike them unless they add something to the experience of the movie. Too often they simply sweep you through the movie and don't even bother to stop and provide good descriptions (relying on the fact that you already have the visuals in your head). What I'm really looking for, of course, is more detail about the world and some of the internal dialogue of the characters. Alien 4: Alien Resurrection really came through on that score. Here's the good and the bad.

The good. You get some internal dialogue from the characters and from the aliens themselves! You also get a look into the world of an artificial human, two actually - an android and a semi-human clone. I especially enjoyed the sub-plot surrounding the artificial human (android). The reading by Hope is generally good and Crispin's writing is fine too. There are a couple of things going for the movie that really translated well into the novelization - the spooky atmosphere and the huge variety of interesting characters.

The bad. Well, there's not much negative worth saying. The book does indeed suffer some of the typical problems of a novelization - lazy description, for instance - but not as much as was the case with Foster's novelizations (Alien and Aliens). You also don't get a lot of extra plot detail that wasn't apparent in the movie, but you get a little.

Overall, I'd say it was a satisfying read.

Good addition to the alien series

this wasn't my favorite one, but still pretty good. I would recommend it. two more words.

Held true to the story

Narration was great. Storyline was believable. Really enjoyed it. I love all the Alien series.

Amazingly better than the movie!

I was very hesitant to buy this book after the movie left a very poor impression, though was pleasantly surprised. A major component that was missing in the movie that is present here is the thoughts of Ripley and the Aliens (portrayed through her cloned genetic link to them). It makes scenes that came off as nonsensical and just weird or out of character in the movie make a lot more sense in the book and offer a unique experience for the Aliens franchise where you get to see inside the minds of the alien warriors and Queen and have a glimpse at their social structure.

The audio book itself is helped by very talented narration. The narrator varries his voice for the different characters and never once had me cringing or bored which can easily happen when the best of books gets a bad or uninterested narrator.

If you like the Aliens franchise I strongly recommend giving this book a look and redeem your opinion of Alien Resurrection. The writer and narrator managed to make the weakest Aliens movie into an amazing entry into the series.

Lastly if you enjoy this book or the series I strongly suggest checking out Aliens: Out of the Shadows, the audible drama, which basically plays out like a movie without video and is a very engaging/unique Aliens audio book experience with a fully voiced cast.

Ripley gets better and better.

Didn't think it could get better. but it did! I enjoyed this book very much.
