Said to be the world's longest poem, Mahabharata was originally composed in 100,000 Sanskrit verses by the ancient Indian sage Vyasa. Revered as a sacred text within Hinduism, it contains the great spiritual teaching Bhagavad-gita. Krishna Dharma has condensed the epic into a fast paced novel that fully retains the majestic mood of the original. A powerful and moving tale, it recounts the history of the five heroic Pandava brothers, sons of the Emperor Pandu. Cheated of their kingdom and sent into exile by their envious cousins, they set off on a fascinating journey during which we meet gods, sages, mystics and mighty warrior kings. Profound spiritual themes underlie the thrilling narrative, making it one of the world's most revered texts. Culminating in an apocalyptic war, Mahabharata is a masterpiece of suspense, intrigue, and illuminating wisdom.©1999 Krishna Dharma (P)2015 Krishna Dharma Sacred Writing Hinduism Philosophy Eastern Eastern Religion

This is a very good story read well, slight problem if you were to wear headphones, some of the mouth noises after a long chapter were hard for me to deal with but I wouldn't stop listening.

A very good story

Every Hindu grows up with stories from the Mahabarat, this is an authentic and accurate translation that refreshes the memory.

The depth of this Magnus Opus, is truly immense. A reading of this provides much of the needed context to understand the Hindu traditions.

The translator and the narrator have done a fantastic job in presenting the tale for English speaking audiences. As the story runs it's course it's difficult to not be overwhelmed by the emotions. During the two months it took me to complete, I could find myself happy on certain days and agast on others.

I've definitely learnt some principles for my life and will revisit this in a few years for a refresher and for bedtime tales for my children.

Beautiful rendition of a true epic

I really enjoyed this version of the Mahabarata. The reader was very nice to listen to. Some parts of the story recording seemed to skip but over all I really enjoyed the read. I would recommend this story to anyone who is a commuter.

Great telling of the story
