One voice actor was good, the other not so much

I was confused hearing two different narrators. The first was good quality but I found the second, the one who sounded British to be annoying and contained too many hiccups in the recording process to enjoy, especially when it came pronouncing non English names. Though informative, it lacked an enjoyability because of the other voice actor.

Loved it!

That was a great telling of all the different world mythologies! Just what I was looking for as most books don’t cover as many as this book does. Highly recommend for anyone interested in mythology. Not always child friendly but it does state when there is about to be more explicit stories. Great overall!

good but some errors

in chapter 15 he says Athena instead of Aphrodite encouraging him before the Trojan war, not a big deal but when you say one of the three maiden goddesses is someone's girlfriend ya done messed up, also later called Aries the goddess of war which is pretty funny cuz hes pretty hyper masculine

Interesting collection

A compilation of so many stories from many traditions really needs a good index to locate individual articles. Sadly this book is missing this entirely.

Well done, minor things

People in this review section are brutal. And I mean BRUTAL with their reviews. Listen, I'm gonna give it to you real and clear as day.

This is long listen, and not in a bad way. There are SOME and I mean SOME consistency issues with mythology, being a person who studied mythology for a while I can tell you overall they got a lot right. If you are just starting in mythology I highly recommend this.

Here's the thing about myths. They are OLD and they have gone through many translations. Certain things are different depending on who is telling the story but main things tend to remain the same. Examples could include a gods role. Those usually remain the same.

This is a surface level intro to a lot of mythology but it does a good job of giving you some ground and foundation in a very vast field of many different cultures.

My #1 recommendation. Do not listen to the people who are negative in this review section. They are picky and they will find the smallest issue and blow it out of proportion. Any of the errors found in this book can just be confirmed or corrected with a simple quick search on google and some cross referencing.

Go for this book, it will be worth the listen in any free time and you will learn a lot about many different cultures.

As for the one person I saw who complained about how this was about the importance of mythology in cultures.......wtf do you think mythology is? It's stories that are important and teach lessons, if the authors don't explain why it's important then there's no basis for you to enjoy the story.

Have fun listening and I hope you learn a bit about mythology ☺️

Fantastic Collection, Questionable Narration

While the content is expansive and well worth the listen, The narrators (mostly Niederhauser) have some notable issues in dealing with names and relations. Anyone not familiar with mythology going in might get confused as there are frequent mix ups involving family relations and incorrectly attributing feats to different gods or simply misnaming them in the middle of a retelling with gods not even present in the current legend. The former can be a big issue given how many incestuous gods there are throughout these various mythologies. Hunt also sounds incredibly mechanical when saying the names of Chinese deities and it can be jarring on a first listen. None of it is a deal breaker, but worth knowing up front.

Interesting and informative

This was a great collection of mythological Norse, Greek, Egyptian, Japanese, Chinese and Hindu stories. You get an entire overview of classic stories from all over the world packed into one audiobook. A very educational, enlightening collection. Narration was professional and articulate. Definitely recommend if mythology interests you. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Spelling Errors Throughout.

Has many spell errors and inconsistencies. The spelling errors make the it rather annoying to listen too. Decent summary of major mythical deities minus the inconsistencies and errors.

Ok book... meh narration.

The book itself was ok. To be honest, I lost interest after getting struggling to get through Norse mythology, which I happen to love, and then started actually listening again when I got to Egyptian Mythology.

I was disappointed at one of the Norse tales missing a common piece of one of the stories.

The narrating for a bunch of it was what really grabbed my disappointment. The narrations were not edited so far too common were mistakes in the reading, that were just re-done again without any kind of editing to simply edit out the mistake. Listening to some of the pronunciations for some of the narrating personally bugged me as well.
