"C.S. Lewis is the ideal persuader for the half-convinced, for the good man who would like to be a Christian but finds his intellect getting in the way." — Anthony Burgess, New York Times Book Review

Our moral consciousness and moral judgements are proof to the human race that a moral being exists—God.

Mere Christianity explores the core beliefs of Christianity by providing an unequaled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith. A brilliant collection, Mere Christianity remains strikingly fresh for the modern reader and at the same time confirms C. S. Lewis’s reputation as one of the leading writer and thinkers of our age.

The book brings together Lewis’ legendary broadcast talks during World War II. Lewis discusses that everyone is curious about: right and wrong, human nature, morality, marriage, sins, forgiveness, faith, hope, generosity, and kindness.

C.S. Lewis was a Britt, so it's only fitting to have a British narrator. The content was originally intended for radio, so listening flows naturally. The chapters are short too-- 10--20 minutes. A great starter!

Mere Christianity, complex ideas in simple terms

I've always been an atheist, this book has served as a good introduction to the basics of Christianity as well as being significantly persuasive on the benefits of Christian belief.

An excellent introduction

The preface was a bit long and dull, but from there it was all terrific. This book should be read by all new believers and anyone with questions about what Christians on the whole believe. The illustrations are done in simple ways to convey complex ideas, the logic is easy to follow and it's informative. Keep in mind that it was released in the late 40's post WWII and some of the terms and references are from that time. I highly recommend it.

For anyone who wants the basics of Christianity

The narration was clear, beautifully expressive and done at a comfortable rate for my listening comprehension. The introduction was a tad long to get through, but I'm glad in the end that I listened to it because it adds meaning to the story. As my heading says, I was sad when it was over because throughout the writing it was filled with nuggets of wisdom to treasure. I'm glad I listened to this and will listen to it again in the future!

I was sorry that it ended!
