A precious recording

This mini-dissertation by C.S. Lewis is required listening for any person -- whether or not they subscribe to Christianity. I think many of us would have fewer broken relationships on the whole (and hearts especially), if we had been taught this info. Love is multidimensional because we are, and those with whom we live and interact and love most certainly are as well. A recipe for disaster at times? Perhaps. But definitely a key to a richer and well-loved life...

A Grwat Christian Classic

"The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis is a thought-provoking exploration of the different types of love that exist in the world. Intellectually challenging

This was a great read! One that I recommend doing several times as to ensure nothing is missed. Stay focus and listen all the way through then go back and do it again with the PDF. It’s not a simple read though. You will be challenged in how you have thought of or viewed the different relationships in your lives.

The contemplative philosopher strikes again!

As I’ve discovered over reading him, Clive Staples is absolutely BRILLIANT at thinking spiritual things through (a contemplative at heart!) and then writing about those things with sublime clarity. Now, I must listen to it again!

Four loves

Heard so much about the four loves, without knowing the origin of the teaching. It was also wonderful to hear the voice of C S Lewis, a voice from time past.

All four loves of human experience have to be distilled into the ultimate love... agape, to be of any worth .

There’s nothing better than hearing an author read his original thoughts & words. Hearing C.S. Lewis’ teaching on love is like sitting in a master class!

A must need for a methodical view on love itself

Well-worded. Timeless. Organized. Author gives common sense to love when many are confused by it.

CS Lewis speaks of love in an everlasting way which is simply timeless. Grateful that he left behind these recorded tapes.

Would you listen to The Four Loves again? Why?

Yes. Love is a mystery and Lewis is able to make the subject tangible and relevant. By breaking the concept into distinct categories, he gives the reader ways to enhance their participation and appreciation of this distinctly human experience.

What does C.S. Lewis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is knows for his scholarly approach to spiritual topics. His reading brings in the humanity and really makes me wish that there existed more of his recordings.

What did you learn from The Four Loves that you would use in your daily life?

Realizing that there is a lot to love in this life. I liked his reference to recognizing love in just hearing your dog wag its tail and appreciating the sound of it hitting the floor. In this life, sometimes I miss noticing how much I am surrounded by the things I love because I am too consumed by the demands of the day.

C.S.LEWIS's FOUR LOVES AUDIO A MUST HAVE FOR ALL LEWIS FANS

As a diehard C.S. LEWIS fan I was quite excited to discover The Four Loves available on the Audible Audio system. For those of us who love Lewis, to have the most incredible privilege to hear him teach and speak with all his passion.

What made it even more exciting was having the chapter introductions by Charles Colson who came to faith while reading "Mere Christianity" given to him by Tom Phillips, president of Raytheon during Colson's indictment in the Watergate Cover up in the '70's.

I had the privilege and pleasure to meet and hear Colson's life conversion experience when I was young salesman for the publishing company that published his book 'Born Again'. That was one of my pivotal encounters in my publishing career. His introduction to each chapter section was a great addition.

I would encourage any Lewis reader to acquire the audio version to get a sense of great passion Lewis possessed and shared about his his deep knowledge, understanding and passionate faith in God.
