In a Post-Apocalyptic world of Magic and Machinery, Jack Knight is an orphan who finds himself caught between a life-altering decision.

Join the military and fight the demon hordes or sell his soul to the Corpos. Both options having minimal appeal to a shut-in like Jack. Thanks to the high cost of living, and his sister’s medical expenses, Jack has never given much thought to what he’d want to do with life, always living paycheck to paycheck, scrounging just enough to keep the lights on and his sister safe. However, in a strange turn of events that nearly kills him, an Angel presents him with a third option.

Awaken and become her instrument of revenge with the ultimate power.

Overall this story was really well written and narrated. Good character and world development and a solid major and minor story arc established. Looking forward to the next installment which will be an insta-buy for me.

Surprisingly good, worth the listen.

I really enjoyed this book. It's got a lot of action and adventure, and a fight against a government stooge. The storyline is pretty interesting and the narration is also awesome.

Great book

I'm a big fan of litrpg, as a genre. So I saw this and being between books decided to give it a shot, fearing due to the cliché of the cover that it would be overly sexualized. Thankfully, I was wrong. While there is innuendo and hormones, it is not taken too far. It is a well-made world, and while the plot is very convenient for our MC, it is done believably. I will happily await the rest of the series.

I was pleasantly surprized.

The author did a letter version of Chekhov’s gun, and they never reveal the contents of the letter. You have to wait until the end credits just to find out that this is only act 1, so it was a tricky call if a second book was not going to be made (hopefully it still is). That’s why the story only gets 4/5. Ellory Lane!! She gets 6/5 stars her range in voices is amazing and her flirtatious playfulness voice come in well use for this book. If it wasn’t for her I probably would’ve stopped this book because Dylan Wheeler was bad, his Spanish was unintelligible. I had to rewind 3 times just to understand his pronunciation of the Spanish language and it took me out of the pull this book had. I understand Dylan is a good actor because he had a wide range of voices but that Spanish was beyond bad. Next time Royal Guard Publishing has Spanish in a book get a bilingual narrator. The one thing Royal Guard Publishing did right was make duet narration, I’m been searching for this kind of work since listening to audiobooks and now that’s all I want to listen to. Duet narration is just awesome

Ellory Lane is what kept me in this book
