WAIT WAIT WAIT AT CHAPTER 64 NEAR THE END WHEN CONFRONTED BY MIKE S THE SMILING MAN OR BLACK KING VARAGS JAC AND JILLIANS FATHER?! 😱🤯🤯

Just like the previous three

It’s good but it suffers the same as the other three. The MC is still a pansy who is knowingly being manipulated by nearly everywhere. His partner is still hiding a lot but MC doesn’t even attempt to find out; he just sulks like a child. They still haven’t explained how the mom screwed her kids over. And the stats..,PLEASE shorten the stats or do what some books do and have shippable sections for stats. The MC’s takes over a minute and most of it isn’t even pertinent. Yet despite all of that crap..pretty good.

Nice addition to the series.

At this point in my life, waking up out of a coma with no memories to a bunch of hotties that wanted me, seems like an awesome time.
This is a good episode of this series.
Looking forward to the next one.

Fantastic

This is definitely a binge worthy series. There is a lot of political intrigue going on and a lot of flash backs and multiple perspectives so make sure you are caught up before diving in.

Stressful Entertainment

no dull moment here.. I got this to listen to while I drive home from working nights to stay awake.. ended up binge-listening.. now I'm reading on Royal Road because I can't get enough

Elory's Voice acting needs work.

most of the time, when it comes to the female characters, the Voice acting has no emotion, the wrong emotion, or–in one instance–is female when it should be male.

there are many times when the character is angry, but the Voice sounds inquisitive or chipper. there are points where the Voice is dull and flat when the character is enraged. and why the hell do the Lamprouges have a country accent when they have a French last name and the main language of the Empire is German?

Does the Voice actor even read the story or sections before recording? or does she just go with the flow and read the lines, using the first attempt and says it's good enough?

Filler

This book was filler and with way too many extra characters added to already large roster of characters. Very little mention of the characters that were introduced in the first 3 books. I have no further interest in continuing the series. Sigh. I listened to the first 3 books in under a week and couldn’t wait for this book.

Big departure for the MC that felt forced

*Mild spoilers ahead*

While I think this story is and has been well written I really didn’t like the direction of this book. The MC is almost a completely different person in this one. I understand the running from responsibility and death angle that the author was going for. That in and of itself makes perfect sense. But the abrupt lack of caring for his previously loved ones and complete switch up to undying loyalty to his new loved ones felt disingenuous. The Jack of the past 3 books loved his sister too much to abandon her the way he did in this book.

Some may say “He feels like he brings death and is safer without him.”. Safer how??? As far as he knows she was left on a war ship in the middle of a battle they were losing with all of her possible backers/protectors dead or engaged. Later in the story when he gets a hostage that could possible know something about his sister or the situation of her protectors he doesn’t even bother to ask. Let alone try using her sympathy towards him to send her on a mission to gather said information. The same goes for him not caring about his uncle or any of his other friends.

Then there’s his tribe, he’s been there for only 3 years and it’s like they’re the only people in the world he cares about. Even going as far as to call one of them his father. It felt unnatural and forced to me and was a constant source of frustration throughout the book.
