Control Your Attention=Control Your Life!

I attended NAQ conference in Memphis where Maura was a guest speaker. She spoke on this topic and of course left me intrigued enough to locate it on Audible. I really enjoyed this book. its very relatable and helped me gain a new perspective on ways to become more productive. I took notes and definitely plan to apply this information.

A valuable perspective on an important topic !

This book has been so helpful. It contains a plethora of meaningful and useful insights, but more importantly, were the nuggets around sustainable self-management from a holistic perspective ie: emotion + mind + body + (even slightly spirit).

The message of Attention management is more apt for dealing with today’s life reality around focus, than that which classic time-management methodologies cover. Indeed, time management would probably dock the Attention management topic into the realm of discipline and consistency. However, we are emotional-based beings and not machines; so, there is an emotional component to goal achievement, or, the attainment of our significant results, and I believe Attention Management addressed this aspect of the equation in spades.

I am a fan of the works from authors such as Chris Bailey: « Hyperfocus », David Allen : « Getting Things Done » , Brian Tracy « Master your time master your life», HBR’s : « On Managing Yourself », and Benjamin P Hardy's «Your ideal future ». These works look at the management of our focus , time management, self-management, and the science of goal attainment.

What Attention management adds into the mix are insights that helps connect the dots from a holistic (daily habits) perspective; ie: how to manage our "muscle of attention" (which is an essential element to sustainable goal attainment), and this, without abandoning self-care, or, deriding ourselves, in the process.

Awareness is the greatest change agent, and the starting point for achieving changes in our lives is having the desire to do so in the first place; coupled with the willpower, and tools (ie: being mentally equipped with ideas, to bring about the perspective-shifts required to administer the primary antidote described in the book). As one author put it and I paraphrase : Habit is what gets you started, but it is motivation (from experiencing the concrete pay-offs) that keeps you going.

The book has armed me with the tools (a methodology ) to effect this change.

I look forward to compounding the 1% shifts that will result through the practice of Attention management, into a sizable change in the quality of my life experience ( including more progress on my goals, and more consistent attainment of my significant results), moving forward; and thereby reaping the equities of this decision over time.

It's a circa 1.5hr audio book listen, to useful and relevant information delivered by an author with a pleasant voice.

All I can say to that is that : "I am sure glad I did".

Enjoy y'all.
