Publisher's summary

Short stories and cheap tastes within, my friends.

I've written almost 30 novels, and about the same number of short stories over my career, and to give new listeners a glimpse of the gamut of my work in an inexpensive way, this book was brought into existence. Contained here are two short stories: All In and The Vampire of Menlo Park. Both are well placed in the horror genre, about devils, demons, inventors, and the undead.

I've also included the first handful of chapters of three of my main series, so you can sample the opening of each saga to determine which (if any) tickle your fancy.

All In: Play a game of poker with the Devil? Only if the chips are your soul.

Adrian's Undead Diary: Bestselling, award-winning zombie apocalypse fiction right here.

Experience the beginning of Dark Recollections, book one of Adrian Ring's epic.

Tesser: A Dragon Among Us: What if a dragon woke up beneath modern day Boston? And what if that dragon couldn't find his sister? (USA Today bestselling audiobook)

The Vampire of Menlo Park: Maybe Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb because he needed to see when the sun wouldn't set him on fire...?

The Wrath of the Orphans: Lovecraftian steampunk dark fantasy, set in a world where spirits roam, and the undead are always just out of sight.

PHILBROOK HAS RANGE!

I first heard of Chris Philbrook from his popular AUD series. This title highlights some of his other skills in writing and creating enjoyable and engaging characters. I particularly enjoyed his short story with the devils poker game.

This is a great compilation of his work. If you're wanting to introduce somebody to a new author. It even has the first few entries of his much beloved Adrian's Undead Diary that I recommend anyone that is fans of the genre to try out.

excellent writing throughout

I have been a faithful listener to Adrian's Undead Diary for a few years now. I forgot how absorbing the beginning of the first book was. I really enjoyed the Dragon story, it made me want to pick up that book as well. also, the world building in the final excerpt was fantastic and left me wanting more there as well. if you haven't read or listened to Chris Philbrook's books, you are missing out!

More cool stuff to read!!

I became acquainted with Chris Philbrook's writing through his Adrian's Undead Diary series. At Least He's Not on Fire is an amazing collection/ introduction to 2 other series I was not familiar with - along with some of his short stories.
I am more curious about the Tesser books now (who doesn't love dragons!!!) I am looking forward to reading more about Tesser's adaptation to a more modern world and how his reemergence changes the world and it's magic.
I am, however, more excited by the excerpt from The Wrath of the Orphans- book 1 of the Kinless Trilogy. I need to find out what happens to Malwynn and Umaryn after their train ride with the inquisitor and am looking forward to spending a whole trilogy in their world!
I love the way the AUD books are written- the short stories and the selections from the other series show me that Chris is not just a "one trick pony" - and that all his works are worth my time and attention!

The great range of characters

I like that you can experience different aspects of the authors ramblings that happen in his head. A talented writer for sure.

Great stories! You get sucked in.

The author (and narrator) have a way of sucking you right into this world! (There are several books in this series) I've enjoyed every one of them and this collection of short stories is no different.

Razzmatazz
