Story
Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again. After 15 years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another. I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side. All I wanted was for him to come back to me. Then, Jackson Emery appeared. He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart. We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love.

Story
When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops. I was the awkward musician, and she was the high school queen. The only things we had in common were our music and our loneliness. Something in her eyes told me her smile wasn't always the truth. Something in her voice gave me a hope I always wished to find. And in a flash, she was gone. Years later, she was standing in front of me on a street in New Orleans. She was different, but so was I.

Shay Gable hated my guts, and I hated hers, too. We went out of our way to avoid one another at all times. When she came in my direction, I went the other. When we locked eyes, she’d turn and walk away. All of that changed the day I was presented with a challenge. It started out as a stupid bet: make Shay fall in love with me before I fell in love with her first. That was an easy bet for me to win. I didn’t love. I hardly liked. Yet slowly the game started to shift. Shay made me crave things I never knew I wanted.

I was warned about Tristan Cole. "Stay away from him," people said. "He's cruel." "He's cold." "He's damaged." It's easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster. But I couldn't do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him, because it also lived inside of me.

Greyson East left his mark on me. As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near. Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.

I know I should stay away from Ian Parker. But when my drug-dealing stepdad kicks me out, I have nowhere to go. Squatting in an abandoned shed on Ian’s grandpa’s farm seems like as good a plan as any. Ian finds me there, of course, and he insists on me moving into his spare room. I should say no, but the appeal of a roof and a warm bed is too much. Not to mention Ian’s brown eyes and strong arms. We’re nothing alike, but the spark between us is undeniable. But then I call the cops on my stepdad and unintentionally get my pregnant mom arrested.

It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soul mates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soul mates. When I arrived in Edgewood, Wisconsin, I didn't plan to find him. I didn't plan to stumble into Joe's bar and have Daniel's music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I didn't mean to star in a sex tape, okay? It was just one of those unexplainable things. Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds. It just happened. Now, my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston's nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan. Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

After leaving the city life behind to escape my loveless marriage, I moved to small-town Havenbarrow for a fresh start. What I didn’t expect was to find myself drawn to the town’s black sheep. They called him troubled, cold, a man with a dark past. What everyone seemed to miss about Jax was the splashes of light in his eyes, the random acts of kindness he performed when no one was watching, and the way he made me smile and laugh.

What's worse than having Rider Kingston, the star quarterback, give you the big brushoff because he doesn't want to get serious? You'd probably think living across the street from him where you get a firsthand view of his hookups, right? That's what I thought. Until someone drops off a baby with a note pinned to her blanket that says one of those jocks - either Rider or one of his roommates - is the father. The problem? Baby mama doesn't mention which of these numbskulls is the sperm donor. I wouldn't care about their paternity problems - except my brother lives there too.

They say it happens when you least expect it. It did for me. It started the moment I saw the simple message pop up on my computer screen: Cameron’s Mac: Hi. And when I met the eyes of the gorgeous man messaging me from across the coffee shop, I never thought my reply would lead to the most intense, sexual, and passionate relationship of my life. We both agreed to check our bags at the door and put our future hopes and aspirations on the table. It worked. I fell in love with his no-holds-barred attitude, sexy smirk, and undeniably good heart...and for a while we forgot about our baggage.

Publisher's Summary
I had always been the invisible art student in high school. Passed by. Glossed over. Unnoticed. Now I was Aria Watson...that girl.
After one bad decision, and being labeled a slut, I was no longer unseen. I was the whore. The ignoramus. The tramp.
I would never be invisible again. Particularly to Levi Myers. He was the odd boy with the beautiful soul who accepted and understood the broken girl inside me.
Falling in love wasn't the plan. But how could I resist his promises of hope? Of forgiveness? Of a future I had stopped dreaming of? We were shattered. We were scarred. We were something strange and beautiful. We were two lost souls holding on to the only thing that could keep us together. Each other.

What a sweet love story
I listened to this for a book club. I likely would have never picked it up myself, but I'm so glad I got to eat up this love story. This was like literary candy, it was a sweet and enjoyable treat that left me happy. I loved the characters, the art and music references, the selfless, painful, hungry love.
The narrators were brilliant, I loved their portrayal and the way the story was told from the two main characters points of view.
The world is full of so much hate and anger, sometimes you just need some joy and candy to make it all better!
Happy listening!

Great Story, Great Narration!
I loved this book. I loved that it was a YA with real life type of problems and that the characters were 16 years old and didn't act like it. The story line may have been a little heavy, maybe even a bit over the top with just how much could happen to 2 teenagers but with that said I love how they dealt with all of it. It was a love story about 2 people who became adults maybe to young but they grabbed on with both hands and tried to do the best with what they had. I enjoyed the friendships, the family drama and I loved that the main characters were exactly what the other needed. This book made me cry, made me laugh and made my heart all around happy. I listened to this book for a book club discussion and honesty this is a perfect discussion book with so many different things to talk about. This is my 2nd book by this author and I've loved them both and plan to continue with her books right away.
The narration of this audiobook was perfect. I loved both of them!

TearJerker
If you could sum up Art & Soul in three words, what would they be?
Beautifully, heartwrenchingly broken.
What did you like best about this story?
This is not my usual genre. I was in the mood for something different, and then it came recommended. It exceeded my expectations. It made me happy. It made me cry. It made me feel.
Have you listened to any of Bailey Carr and Scott Aiello ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't, but I loved them. They were so good together. They were both wonderful, but I loved the guy's voice. I live in Alabama, and the accent was spot on. It didn't make me cringe like most narrators who try to do southern do.
Any additional comments?

What made the experience of listening to Art & Soul the most enjoyable?
It was a wonderful story, well written and narrated...I truly loved it!!!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Aria and Levi...both of them were wonderful!
Which scene was your favorite?
The funeral, and the Art show!!!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
This would be a beautiful movie!!
Any additional comments?
I listened to this for book club, and am overwhelmed at how much I loved this!! This was not something I would have chosen for myself..and I am so glad I found it! This is Aria and Levi's story...2 young people who found each other when then truly needed someone else and fell in love..it was almost destiny!! For a teenage set book, this was pleasantly great...very maturely written and I just did not want it to end...I listened and listened and did not want to put it down! I look forward to more from this author and I highly recommend this book...you will love it, I cried both tears of joy and sadness and am putting this on my all time faves list!!!!

Just Listen to this Book!
This was one of the sweetest love stories that I ever had the privilege of listening to because it was so pure and innocent. A lot of times young adult novels are focused on sex and selfishness, and although it was mentioned in this book, it wasn’t the main subject between the two main characters.
High schools around the world could use a Levi in them. He was so kind to everyone, including the outcasts. His actions showed that he cared about people and it brought me to tears on how much it affected the people who didn’t have very many friends. You never know what a kind word or smile can do to a person because we have no idea what that person is going through in his life at the time. We can learn a lot from a person like Levi. I know this was a fictional book, but there are people like that in the world. He was a good looking kid who could have been with the popular crowd, but chose to hang out with the “regular” people.
I also loved Aria. It’s hard to imagine people being so cruel to somebody just because they made a mistake. The fact that she was going to have a baby at 16 made her the target of cruelty in the school. But it’s the kindness of people like Simon, Abigail, and Levi who together help each other through all the sadness and burdens they carry on themselves.
There is a lot of secondary characters, and it really pulls at your heartstrings, but it’s worth the read because it’s just so very sweet. My son is adopted so I totally understand the feeling of being able to have a son because someone else was so unselfish by giving him to me. I can’t say enough about this audiobook. You can read the book, but I would recommend listening to it because Bailey Carr and Scott Aiello did an amazing job with all the voice characters!

Wow, this book. First let me start off by saying amazing writing. This is the second book I have listened to by this author and again she has blown me away.
She is not shy and she tacked some huge topics all in one story. I can’t see that being easy at all but she made them flow so effortlessly.
I also loved the narrators, they were perfect for this book. They didn't sound to old, or try to play up the emotional scenes at all, very much enjoyed this audio.
Levi is 17 and came to get to know is dad better, after losing touch for so many years. Aria is about to deal with a huge life issues, but she has the help of her quirky best friend Simon.
Seriously from teen pregnancy, mental illness, OCD, cancer, adoption, abortion, miscarriage, life and death. This book covers so many topics at such a young age but in a way you get to see love, and strength, and devotion.
I also loved that even though this is “teens” it didn’t feel like an immature book at all. Not all teenagers are about angst to the point of madness. So thank you for that.
I just loved that friendship can grow from the unlikeliest of sources. And maturity come from any age, not just adulthood. Levi, Aria, Simon and Abigail showed us this throughout the book.
