Publisher's Summary
Finally make a living doing what you love.
Why is it that some artists are wildly successful, while others just barely squeak by?
It may seem like an unfathomable mystery how some are earning six figures while other more talented artists are struggling. Maria Brophy has dedicated 20 years of her life to researching the specific strategies that successful artists follow. After applying these strategies to her husband Drew Brophy's career, Maria grew his art sales to multiple six figures yearly.
In Art Money Success, Maria tells personal stories of her own business deals, successes, and failures while sharing unconventional wisdom that will explode your art sales. With the guided written exercises (get free worksheet downloads that accompany this audiobook at Maria Brophy's website), you can apply the insights to your own art business for immediate results.
The tools inside will help you:
- Connect with your right buyers
- Increase your money income
- Sell art easily and negotiate nicely
- License your art and get paid multiple times for one artwork
- Implement powerful money and business practices
- Trust your own creative intuition
If you are interested in generating more money and success from your art, then this audiobook is for you!

If you are an Artist you need this book
I have read many books for artists on how to run an art business and this book is one of the best! Maria and her husband Drew have a very successful art business and she shares everything she has learned over the years about licensing, copywriting your art, pricing, and so much more. She shares information on negotiating contracts with clients and galleries. All of this with dignity and respect for all parties involved. My suggestion is buy the audiobook and the book, listen to it with the book in hand but make sure you have your highlighter and page markers, because you will want them. Listening to the book is like sitting down with a really good friend who knows so much about running an art business and all she wants to do is share with you all of her knowledge and wisdom.

lacking actual "anything"
I hate writing bad reviews, but: I could only make it through chapter 7.
she spends most of her time in the book selling you on the idea of the alternative market, and how helpful it could be to selling art without actually giving you a strategy to enter said markets. instead she asked you to grab a paper and pen and come up with your own strategies based on questions she presents. it easy to see how she and her husband where successful she is a great salesperson and mostly does selling throughout the seven chapters I could make it through. I believe her concept is correct but a self help book isn't the path that this author should have tried... it should have been a book on her story and what her and her husband did to win in the art world. not a self help for sells, but hey I guess that another "alternative market".

Hard-won, Practical Wisdom for Artists
I loved this book. Not like I love my parents, brother, or niece and nephew, but how I love something that improves my experience of life; like a good tool, or timely advice from a trusted friend.
Maria cuts through all of the superstition, and frankly, bullshit surrounding art and the business of being a creative in a world of numbers and bottom lines.
A true breath of fresh air, and incredibly informative.
The first time I listened to the book, I went against her advice and listened to it all the way through while working in my studio, or driving. Now, on my second listen, I'm applying her wisdom and working through a chapter at a time, dedicating my energy and focus to following her direction.
Magically, within two days of my first listen, I booked a gallery show in a trendy restaurant. As Maria says : Success loves Speed. Now I have three months to finish the works in the show!!
Thank you Maria for writing this book, and for sharing yours and Drew's life experience with us. Thank you!

Simply Fanastic
This is fantastic directory for Creatives that finally gives real monetary examples, thorough guidance, actionable To-Do lists, new ideas to consider, and a plethora of real stories from lessons learned. This is a guide you can study and action. I especially loved the chapters on Licensing and Copyrights. She spells out contract language to help you learn and become familiar with 'red flags' to lookout for.
I've already printed some of her guides that help to wrap your mind around your creative business goals. I want to be an Entrepreneur, not an "Artist for Hire", think bigger- this book will help big time.
5 minutes ago, I just finished this book and as soon as I finish writing this review I'm going to start listening to it over again.

Worthwhile read for all artists
Stick with this book to the end - you won't regret it.
My initial thoughts (as a non-American) was that it was too American and a bit pushy... but by the end of the book, I no longer felt that way. There is a ton of useful advice for artists - and even if you only implemented 10% of it, it would totally up your game.
The advice on avoiding pitfalls and valuing your time is worth the price tag alone, even if you never find the courage to follow-up on potential sales as she suggests.
Maria is very clear - a lot of the advice is repeated, but not repetitive - the balance is just right so that by the end, the information really sticks. Next step for me is to get my artist husband to read it but I already have a stronger frame of mind and a vision of how our artistic endeavours could work for us, whilst not compromising on the art itself, in any way.

When I was telling someone what book I was listening to they said, "Wow that sounds boring!" I thought yes it does sound boring but I find myself loving it! Maria speaks with such passion! I love it that she always says what to watch out for especially to do with copyright and licensing deals. It felt it was hardcore in some areas and I didn't understand everything but I felt somehow empowered. I know I will be revisiting lots of parts of this book now I have listened to it cover to cover. Must have book for any artist
Dear Maria,
I don’t have enough words to thank you for sharing your knowledge with emerging artists. I bought your book on audible around 2 months ago and since then I have taken on board many of the strategies that you mention. I listen to your book in your voice everyday while driving to work . The questions which made me think what I really want, who to approach, how to price my art and how to approach other agencies to enquire about licensing- every single chapter in your book is worth listening over and over again .
I will forever be indebted to you for sharing your knowledge- I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I call you my mentor .

A wonderful and generous book
I wish I had read this book seven years ago when I started my artist journey, it would have saved me so much confusion and heartache. It is so full of important guidance, generous advice and tips on how to be successful at making a living as an artist. I feel so much more confident having listened to it. Thanks so much Maria!

Great Art Businesses Info
Great amount of practical art businesses info. Only thing I would suggest is slower audio as it goes through a lot of info fast, easy to miss something.

Very worthwhile.
I have the physical book but no time to read it. Listening to it chapter by chapter and doing the worksheets in between is working well for me. I can listen again as I want and the insights sink in. Well read and well written.
