Publisher's Summary

Argentum is the thread that binds all magic...

The silver of Miri's cat charm passed on through the generations. The silver of Jessamyn's scepter, the source of her illusions. The silver of Quentin's scrying bowl, forged by Merlin. All intertwine in Argentum. With Alistair gone a measure of peace returns to P.A.W.S., but Miri is tormented by nightmares. The silver charm that had recently hung around Alistair's neck is now in Miri's possession and seems to have taken on a life of its own. And then it mysteriously disappears. Jessamyn seeks help from Quentin, who claims to have repented his past association with Alistair, but can he be trusted? And what of Jenna? The young girl rescued from Alistair's pack house holds a terrible secret. One that could determine the future of P.A.W.S. The P.A.W.S. saga continues with Argentum.

4.0/5 Magic, Mystery, and Destiny

Summary: Miri Katz, a student at P.A.W.S. has a lot more to deal with than mere classes. Her father’s a semi-immortal psychopath of sorts. That’s enough to give you grays even if you don’t have the ability to turn into a cat.

Additional Comments:
- Although it can be read and understood without listening or reading book one, I’d recommend doing this series in order.
- There are a ton of very cool concepts in here. I like the idea of magic schools, powerful pendants, the quest for immortality, moral questions, and stuff like that.
- Content Warning: There are also some pretty disturbing elements involving multiple forms of abuse of a minor. The book is categorized as YA and I know teens deal with stuff like this. The tough content is handled reasonably well, but I just don’t like it in fantasy stuff I read/listen to. It makes whatever I’m reading way less kid-friendly, meaning I can’t recommend it to the target audience. (Everything else fits a 13-ish age bracket splendidly, except that.)
- Audio performance was done with heart.
- I didn’t like certain characters. I don’t think you’re meant to like the particular character I had in mind, but it’s really annoying to actively hate story characters. (On the flip side, that means they’ve got some depth to them.) This could just be the voice used for the character, it grated on the nerves. Pretty sure that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do …
- There’s not a great deal of closure. It’s very much a part two of multiple stories. I would have liked a few more threads to be tied up. I’m sure they will be, but that will have to wait for book 3.

Conclusion: If you’re okay with slightly depressing themes like sexual abuse of a kid and can get past that, then it’s actually a really good book.

light horror shifter bad guy empire saga

Firstly this book is for mature readers due to a rape scene. The story was detailed and intense, often dark . Recommended for readers that like dark shifter series. Good sized 8 hr novel. l thought the narrator voices suited the differing characters .

Paws Book 2 excellent series

The Author has spun a fabulous tale that continues with book 2 in the series of 4 books so far!Her story grabs your attention. Solid characters, with shifters and Magicians. Miri finds a girl in Alisters’ hideout. **Warning not for the faint of heart.**** Proceed with caution! Some dark mysteries are coming to light in this book. I can’t stop now! I have to know what happens! I have already started book 3.

Dark doings deepen

Again another very scary but very well written story. Even from the grave, Alester becomes more and more monstrous. Debbie has a large range of stories from children’s books to this series which is not for children. As long as your expectations are right going in you will be fascinated by the descriptive power that makes magic come to life.

Book 2 did not disappoint

What a great story. This was full of magic, betrayel, darkness and death. The story was well written & I the narrator did a great job. I especially loved his Alister voice. I felt especially bad for poor Jenna. I can't wait to see what book #3 brings.

Another well-written story from a very good author

Argentum: P.A.W.S., Book 2, my fourth read from author Debbie Manber Kupfer. A well-written enjoyable 7-hour 3-minute read. After reading P.A.W.S. #3 & #4 I'd obviously missed something so I went back to the beginning. If I'd read these books first there's no doubt in my mind I would've continued on. George Sirois’s narration adds to this unique book's enjoyment. I look forward to the 4 Tales from P.A.W.S. as well as P.A.W.S. #5 "I received a free Audible review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." Great series

I’m really enjoying this series. I am not usually one to enjoy paranormal books, but I really like these so far. This author keeps her characters much more human than many shape shifter have been in my experience, maybe I’ve been reading the wrong books... This book jumps around a bit in time and I had a hard time following those jumps at times, I do think this is partly due to listening rather than reading since I can’t see the breaks on the page. There are two instances in the book where sexual acts are mentioned in more detail than I think is ok for teens, not much explicit detail, but I think it would have been better if handled differently. Other than that I enjoyed the book. The narrator is good, a few places that felt to me like funny places to have emphasized with voice inflections, but I understand my own interpretation does not always match that of others.

Still loving this series

Miri now has both charms, the original charm from her omama and the charm from her opapa she retrieved after killing Alistair. The charm from her opapa is going to cause her serious problems in this story. The young lady who is also a wolf shifter and was impregnated by Alistair in the last novel will have a role in this story as well. Is the threat from Alistair really gone? I enjoyed this book, but they switched narrators from the first book and I did not care for this one as much. I recommend this story. I was given a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review,

Enjoyable Listen

I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This audiobook is my favourite genre. I enjoyed this story even though I usually listen to audiobooks aimed at adult audiences. I listened to book one P.A.W.S. first, the plot was good with a few twists and focuses on Miri the main character. This book explores the other characters stories more not just Miri's which allowed for a deeper connection and the plot overall is a little darker with a few twists as well.

Good

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review With Alistair gone Miri is in possession of his silver charm and she starts to be tormented by nightmares. The charm then vanishes and Jessamyn seeks the help of Quentin who claims he’s repented from his allegiance to Alistair but can he be trusted.
