Publisher's Summary

Secrets, magic, and betrayal...all in the first semester!

Zoey is a witch, but she's not very good at it. That is, until she's taken to a secret school of mages. There, she discovers a whole new world of a different kind of magic, one that she seems to excel in.

She and three fantastically hot boys who are "keeping her safe" are trying to figure out how she escaped their world in the first place and why her parents hid her.

And they'd better hurry because something is trying to kill her.

Welcome to the Magic Guardian Academy where supernatural creatures try to keep the world safe even on the days that suck.

Warning: This is a steamy reverse harem paranormal romance that will leave you addicted.

Angsty Paranormal Academy Series Start- with RH

While this was jam packed with non-stop action, lots of fantastic and dangerous magic and some stolen sexy moments, I feel a little like the world building was lacking. We are dropped right into the story, with Zoe the main character getting whisked away to magic school with no answers- for her or me. Next thing I know, she is battling some serious nasties and using new kinds of magic, but the details of the world were all very hazy and felt a little bit like it was being made up as the book went along. That being said, this is just the first book in the series so more world building may come in the next book (and hopefully it won't be as sad either, because this was not an uplifting read). I am for sure interested to see what will happen and I am invested in learning more about Zoe and her three hot protectors.

I will admit that Zoe drove me absolutely batty with her inability to think anything through, instead she plunged into one terrible situation after another- easily risking her own life as well as those around her. I hope that as the series progresses she learns how to rationalize and plan better, or she probably won't live past a second book.

I 100% love this narrator! She gave Zoe so much personality that I feel like she was a real person and her voices for the other characters were all so distinct and unique so I always knew who was talking. This was so well done as an audiobook I was sucked into the story and binged it in one day. I would love to listen to this same narrator read the rest of the Magic Guardian Academy.

Skip it

When I first listened to the sample I though I would really like this book. However the main character is impulsive. She won’t listen to reason and does what she wants at all times. The story fell short. Why are the dark mages after her??? I honestly don’t think they ever said. I’m assuming her father was a dark mage.......it just needed more information and back story.
Her “Men” really have no back story either. Other then Kento.
Ugh I hate that I wasted money on this book.
Skip it!!!

dnf. writing sub par, pathetic mc

dialog is like listening to middle school children. any stabs at being funny fall completely flat. the mc immediately comes off as whiney. seriously couldn't get past first couple chapters.

A must If you like high school magic 😍

I can't wait for the next book. The story line was brilliant and the narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. Well done to the author 😍 I look forward to listening to more of your work.
