I mainly wrote this review to counter the only other review (at the time). idk if that person didn't read the first book or forgot everything but if you liked the previous book then you will like this one.

its good

so in my opinion the story is really good and I'll come back here as needed but I will say there's some minor issues that don't make any sense.... a great example of this is on the second day of the apocalypse thorian realizes that he could have gone for the jack of all trades skill And he beats himself up over it and he's like I wasted the time he then goes on to tell you that in his first lifetime it took him a year and a half to learn about the skill then on his third day he upgrades his constitution to get the skill It just seems like being unsatisfied with unimaginable super speed growth and being like I didn't min-max all my stats 🫤 I mean It's clear from his first timeline he spent over 10 years learning growing and getting stronger And it's only the third day and he's complaining about minmaxing It's also one of the things that I pointed out for my first review of the first book that I didn't like... It's going way too fast I mean you have this super strong OP villain that shows up out of nowhere and basically washes his entire town in the entire progress of the first book is literally done in the entirety of two and a half days.... in fact so little Time has passed that he doesn't even have a food system built.... I'm just afraid that the writer of this series is going to basically condense 10 years of experiences into what amounts to less than a year because you see this happen a couple times in several novels And I've always always hated it I mean there's literally no reason time should be sped up and events should be happening faster than they should normally happen other than to give the character challenge because he supposedly can't rule the world 😒 anyways there's plenty of good things about the series as well

honestly it's absurd How many interludes are in this book 16 interludes 16 FREAKING INTERLUDES You pay all that money for the book or the credit and over an hour of the story is dedicated to just side stories and characters that don't even engage with the main character 😒 I mean literally one of them was an entire training session with Knox which shouldn't even have been in interlude

The ending of this book is also a bit frustrating The timing isn't very well understood thorian and his group meet nalia at loxley... she then goes to the dungeon and he goes to the abysgate he then sends his men to infiltrate The Mansion which is only about a 10 minute job they finish up and meet thorian back at the Westgate after a little discussion he then communicates with the direwolves tailing nalia And she supposedly finishing up in on her way back to the city and it's going to be another 20 minutes 🫩 mind you these dungeon runs take time and are not very quick in fact we know this is the case... because the first time they did this little arrangement thorian's group got through 15 levels of the abyss dungeon And time moved faster on the outside while you're on the inside.... It was hours.... I don't think the writer has a good grasp of time this is actually happened a couple times in the story....

I'm just barely reluctantly going to give the story five stars first off the ending battle was fantastically performed usually you don't get successful ambushes by the heroes It's quite refreshing... The only only only thing that just takes away from this great victory is the fact that One of her subordinates runs away in the middle of the fight they say yeah let him go 🫩 And then at the last second he swoops in to save her and runs off carrying her..mind you thorian and his crew can run it super speed that includes Harold who can run beyond super speed and he supposedly can't catch up because they lose Harold chasing them I'm not going to spoil the ending but the writer does fix this issue... I don't want to spoil too much of The ending of the book it's just frustrating It feels like the writer wants to give you a tasty cake..... only for them to say nah never mind... then for you to get the cake after all but it doesn't really taste that good anymore 🥳😒

really good but has some minor issues

He is a monster that wants his people and himself to be treated like a human while treating other monsters as though they were disposable. So why should it matter whatever happens to them if they are monsters playing at humans. I would generally think this was a narrow, close-minded way to seeing things but why should the MC and his compatriots deserve better then they give? An example is when they are taking the altars. He gives SO much grace too humans but none at all to any monster not under him. It is weird given how the village progressed.

And why does Nox’s voice sound so weird? It’s really off putting given every other monsters’ voice. Which are smoother or more rugged. Nox’s dialogue is over annunciated and slightly nasally. It sounds like someone doing an uptight or nerdy voice. I like Nox the character, but the voice is so out of place it’s jarring. The narrator has a deep smooth voice which emphasizes how grinding Nox’s voice is.

Isn’t he a monster
