"A truly amazing portrayal of the technical, the emotional, and the courageous. Macy puts the reader in the cockpit of our most lethal attack platform." -Dick Couch, New York Times bestselling author

Apache is the incredible true story of Ed Macy, a decorated Apache helicopter pilot, that takes you inside one of the world's most dangerous war machines. A firsthand account of the exhilaration and ferocity of war, Apache chronicles a rescue mission involving a stranded soldier in Afghanistan in 2007.

Ed Macy had always dreamed of a career in the army, so when the British Army Air Corps launched its attack helicopter program, Macy bent every rule in the book to make sure he was the first to sign up to fly the Apache—the deadliest, most technically advanced helicopter in the world and the toughest to fly. In 2007, Macy's Apache squadron was dispatched to Afghanistan's notorious Helmand Province with the mission to fight alongside and protect the men on the ground by any means necessary. When a marine goes missing in action, Macy and his team know they are the Army's only hope of bringing him back alive. Apache is Macy's story—an adrenalin-fueled account of one of the most daring actions of modern wartime, and a tale of courage, danger, and comradeship you won't be able to put down.

A thrilling view into a British Apache squadron. It also shows how important everyday people are to the preservation of our society.

A heroic story by a humble hero

Narration left something to be desired. Perhaps at times too much detail. A good story.

Good story

Good introduction to the life of an Apache pilot. Would’ve been nice to get a British voice actor, but the dude here does a great job.

Great performance.

Good book, but since the author and story is British, I would have preferred a British reader rather than an American one.

Better with a British reader

Quick listen, British narration would made this perfect . Still a fantastic book. Great follow up info on characters in the book.

This is an amazing book all around and I must read for anyone. As an American infantryman as well as someone who’s about to go through flight school, this super really interesting.

Amazing

Great Narration. The book has technical information, but it us not over technical as to come across as a text book.

Great glimpse into the duty life of a Apache Pilot.

The book gives one a “birds eye” view (pun intended) of the awesome abilities of the AH-1 Apache helicopter. It
Provides detail regarding the complexity of the bird, the exceedingly high demands it places upon the flight crew (pilot and weapons-officer/co-pilot); equally impressive, the book describes the sheer number and quality of people charged with keeping this cutting-edge war bird operational. The story-line was fast-paced, compelling, with unanticipated, indeed unheard of plot twists as unique and ambiguous combat conditions compel all involved to render life and death decisions in the face of seemingly both insurmountable odds against them, and the moral imperatives of the professional warfighter who is highly trained, deeply motivated, and steeped in a country and culture that values life, honor, discipline, respect, responsibility, and selfless service. Well written, well presented in the audio format, and worth your time to listen to it. Thought- provoking, inspiring, and insightful.

Outstanding Performance, well presented, compelling narrative.

OK, I loved this book, but I do have a complaint. Since the book was written by a Brit, it should have been read by a Brit. The reader is excellent, but his American voice kept making me think that the author was an American.

It kept me finding time to listen.
