In a dire future following the Great Rebirth, the word “I” is unspeakable. Individualism has been erased in favor of collectivism. Any act that is not in service to the group is forbidden. And self-reliance is a punishable transgression. But for an anonymous rebellious street sweeper, that offense is all that stands between the authoritarian state and freedom.

A hymn to egoism, Ayn Rand’s dystopian parable is the embodiment of her core tenets of self-sufficiency and fighting against the oppression of “We.”

It seemed like the people were lemmings. It was interesting to see the ‘rebel’ and ‘intellect’ develop to the extent of leaving the norm and rediscovering the previous experience of man/woman.

The importance of ‘I’.

Rand's tale of a dystopian future points out one's bravery versus the collective. Well done.

Beautiful short story.

Great, short listen. I was looking forward to my commute so I could play this book. The plot and characters develop fast, so it doesn't feel like it's getting dragged out. The narrator almost sounded like a robot though. I get that it's sci-fi, but that was a little hard to deal with it. The story itself kept me in it enough to ignore the narrator's voice.

Old school sci-fi

I've never read / listened to anything like it. It really was intriguing and I very much enjoyed it.

Completely different, thought provoking and fun
