Publisher's summary

Retired, divorced banker, and now hot air balloon pilot Tim Feely doesn't know the world is being eaten alive by zombies. It's early in the morning, and the first of the undead are only now appearing on the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Right in Tim's town, in fact.

So when he takes Julie and Lucas up into the air for their first hot air balloon ride, before the news reports start, and before the car accidents and looting begins, he has no idea just how crazy the ride will be. After all, Lucas was just bitten by a "crazy heroin addict".

This standalone novella set in the apocalypse of Adrian Ring shows how one man, trapped with a ticking time bomb, tries to escape the inevitable to reunite with his daughter Malinda on the ground below.

Of course...the world he's tying get back to will never be the same if he puts his feet on the ground, ever again.

Great Little Book

This book is great because it shows how things unfolded from a different point of view. I can almost 100% promise you haven't read/ listened to a situation like this one. All that and everything unfolds very realistic.

A birds eye view

*Disclaimer I was given a review copy of this audiobook*

An Ill Wind was an interesting way to show how that day unfolded in the city of Westfield. A hot air balloon pilot watches the world fall apart on "that day"while he floats above on a flight that seems to have evil as the unseen 4th passenger.

It was definitely an interesting story and gives the reader a unique view of how quickly things devolved I to complete chaos on "that day". We have some fan favorite characters mentioned tying this story in to the greater AUD world and even have a few Easter eggs included seeing everyone's favorite national guard unit from a birds eye view.

it's definitely a worthy entry in the AUD universe although I do believe this was the weakest of the tales books that I have read so far. I am also somewhat confused on whete the second story in hete fits in. I dont know if this is from a separate series the author was working on but it doesn't seem to fit in to what we know about the AUD universe. I was hoping the author would have given us some more info in the intro like he has for other books in this series with an additional story included.

That being said I would still recommend this book for fans of the series. Even though I don't rate this as highly as the other entries it is still a great short story and definitely deserves a place in the AUD universe.

Unique story

I'll say the same thing I said in my review of the book, I haven't been this into a book about a balloon ride since I read Around the World in 80 Days as a kid. Chris took something as unassuming as a balloon ride and filled it with suspense .

Also James Foster delivered another wonderful performance as the voice of AUD.

Really enjoyed this journey to that day. highly recommend this whether or not you have listened to the other stories, but to enjoy it to the fullest, start with Dark Recollections.

Another great achievement.

I am always impressed by the details that the auther brings to the world he is creating. I have enjoyed the Audible version of the books as they allow me to enjoy when driving and at work. But remember these are books and should be read. There is something about the quite reeses of the mind as we read, alone. Thank you Chris for your efforts.

Adrians world does not disappoint!

This book was great! I love the Adrians Undead story series. It is refreshing to hear stories from the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. The scenario of being in a hot air balloon was definitely a good outllook on what could happen in that situation. I also loved the other storyline in this book and it was just as good if not better. It was definately a surprise and I was very pleased. I look forward to more Adrians Undead stories in the future! If you like zombie stories, you will love this. You don't have to read the AUD series before you read this book. I do suggest reading the entire AUD seriesfor any zombie fans.
