Publisher's Summary

After thousands of years, they’re back…

Proud dragon warrior and healer Sana has a secret…one that may forever turn his friends against him, and one that he’ll do anything to keep. He’s worked too hard to keep who he truly is from the world, and he refuses to let the charade drop, even after waking up thousands of years in the future. But when Peter walks into his life and wakes his heartsong, he knows it’s a secret he won’t be able to hide much longer. With his muscular body and incredible strength, Sana is decidedly alpha in appearance, but Peter is no omega, and that means…

Human lie detector and reformed dragon hunter Peter will stop at nothing to figure out why there’s music in his heart whenever Sana is around…and why that music makes him feel like he’s known Sana his whole life. Peter’s been with other alphas, but the way Sana makes him feel is unlike anything he’s experienced before. But as his attraction to Sana builds at breakneck speeds, so too does the danger they face. The Master Guardian is still on the loose, and the hunters are still under his control…and as a former hunter, Peter may be the key to taking them down.

Can fated mates still so new in their relationship survive the perils of the Hunters’ Guild and rise victorious? Buckle up and let our dragons take you on a ride you’ll never forget…straight into the Alpine Compound, and the dangers therein.

Alpha Deceived is the third book in the Waking the Dragons series and features men as hot as dragonfire, a life-changing secret, a prehistoric version of a certain laundry pod challenge, and a HEA just as legendary as the dragons in it. This audiobook contains mpreg and is 18+ only… did you really expect anything less from Susi Hawke and Piper Scott?

Best one yet!

Alpha Deceived is book 3 in the Waking the Dragons series and it needs to be read in order as it follows a continuing storyline. Trust me, you don't want to miss a second of this fantastic series.

So, I had an idea of who the evil guy was, but I had no clue of the extent of his betrayal. I can only hope he'll get what's coming to him in the last installment because the guy deserves everything these two authors can come up with.

I adored Peter, he was easygoing and laidback, taking most of what was happening to him in stride, but at the same time, he was supportive and protective of Sana. I liked Sana a lot, but he frustrated me a bit, with his fear of letting his fellow dragon warriors know what he really was and jumping into doing things his way, putting Peter and himself in harm's way. Of course, there's the fact that if he hadn't he wouldn't have learned of the bad guy's deception, so there's that.

This series just keeps getting better and better with each passing book, the authors have done an outstanding job with world-building and the heart song's theme. I think Alpha Deceived is my favorite so far, not only because of the main couple, but because of how much the plot moved along with the reveal of the big bad. I'm eager to find out how it'll play out in the last book.

Colin Darcy did a great job narrating the book, he gave each character (main and secondary) a distinctive voice that made them easily recognizable and the inflections to his tone made for a fantastic experience listening to this audiobook. I said before that this was my favorite of the three I've listened to so far in this series and that is, at least in part, due to Mr. Darcy's voice.

Great series!

I love this series. This is the 3rd book in the series, but the first one I listened to on audio.
Piper and Susi write great books, and Colin did a great job bringing those characters to life!
This book is Sana and Peters story. Everyone always thought Sana was an Alpha, which is how he wanted it to be until he met his heart song Peter.
I love this whole series, but this one was special as we had to see Sana deal with finding his heartsong and getting pregnant while harboring a fear the rest of the team would reject him.
Great story! Highly recommend this series!

Trekking on

Trekking on with this series although I am not the biggest fan. So far this was my favorite book of the series but that isn’t saying much.
I am a huge Piper Scott fan and I just have a hard time seeing her miss so much detail and plot. Again I’ll toss that over to her co-writer here.

Guys don’t let this series be your first Piper series! Try her Obey series, her SDSG series, or her Forbidden Desires with Virginia Kelley! Those books are totally work it!

Excellent series!!!

I absolutely love this series. The dragons are awesome and the way this series is written is wonderful. The heartsong between the dragons is definitely a new way to describe a fated mate and I felt that it was well done. Sana and Peter's story was a little different from the other ones in this series. The thoughts that Sana battles with about his status can be so easily compared to how some men in modern times feel about being gay, femme, or just different from what they are expected to be, which I guess could go for just about anyone, not just men. I like that the authors gave this angle a part in the series. It was like when you see an important lesson being taught in a child's story, it's there but it's just enough under the surface. Peter's absolute support of Sana and the way he is patient with him until he is ready to deal with things in his own way is awesome. Sometimes in a series you feel like you are reading the same story over and over but with a different set of MCs but this series didn't make me feel like that because the underlying story was carried from book to book. I hope these two authors co-write again because they do very well with their story telling.

Colin Darcy's narration is spot on, the voices are all very distinct throughout the series. In each book I knew exactly who was talking at all times because he carried the voices throughout the entire thing.

My favorite in the series so far

If you haven't read or listened to the first two books, you really should in order to get a lot of the back story. On that note, I had a feeling after meeting Peter in the last book and his alpha traits, I wasn't really surprised to find that Sana had hidden his omega status. I can even understand why he did. However, I think that with much this secret played into the story, I think the reactions of his friends was kind of anticlimactic. I had an idea of who the bad guy was and I was correct (no spoilers, don't worry) but it was interesting to find out their connection with one of the mates from the modern world.

Since book four isn't available in audio yet at the time I'm writing this, I will probably read it instead so I can find out how everything ends.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Loving this series.

I’m listening to this series having never read the books and Colin Darcy a new narrator for me. He’s doing a wonderful job. Every character is easily distinguishable. Each story increases the love factor. Sana has been a favourite from book 1 with his wonderful heart and Dragon talents it came as no surprise his Heart Song would be an Alpha and Peter is perfect. The villain of the piece is also no surprise at all. How they take him down is a much anticipated edition. This audio was full of love, action, fights, injuries and of course Mpreg. I really recommend this series.
