A Different Bit of Sci-Fi.

Where does Alone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would rate it about 6/10 of all books I have listened to.

What did you like best about this story?

The opening scene grabs your attention for the book, and it does a good job of providing back ground for the story.

Which scene was your favorite?

The opening scene was probably the most memorable in the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Hidden away because of what she could do, others want to use her powers.

Any additional comments?

This story is about mega humans. The girl is who kept inside her house and away from people all her life--Only to have her world turned upside down and find out that she is a mega human. The scenes described with Wolfe are a bit creepy.

Ok but not a page turner.

This was good but maybe I'm just not a fan of this type book. It just wasn't a thriller or page turner for me.

Interesting Start

I wasn't sure about this story, but I'm glad that I stuck with it. I didn't love it but it was enough to keep my interest. Although I was hoping for more suspense and action, I liked the ending and the possibilities for the future books. I'll probably try the next one in the series to see where the author goes with it.

Dumb.

This book had decent reviews and so I tried it. I kept wanting it to get better and kept listening and hoping...but no. It may be a young adult novel, but I need to look into that further...if so, I still wouldn't recommend it. The story is a good idea, superhuman mutant type people and the agency that tries to oversee them. It just never gets going on a good plot. At first the teenager's mother is missing, who is also a super human, then the agency saves her from a wolf creature (which just doesn't fit the story) and most of the story is at their facility. She is a whiny, know it all teenager, which doesnt make us like her, so the book doesn't even have that going for it. At one point the wolf guy alludes to raping her before killing her, which is a plot twist just thrown in for effect and really doesn't make sense at that point. Maybe if you say the word "rape" in a book, it makes it more scary...I don't know. I hate leaving a book unfinished, so i finished it, but only because it was only 5 hours...I would have given up after the first two if it were a long one. I think it is great that Audible will take a book back that you don't like, but I wouldn't do it because it was my fault for poor judgement. BTW, the narrator is not that great either. She sounds like a monotone teenager, which is probably what they are going for, but it is tedious to listen.

Terrible on all levels!!

Would you try another book from Robert J. Crane and/or Annie Sullivan?

Probably not

Has Alone turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Would you be willing to try another one of Annie Sullivan’s performances?

Absolutely positively definitely never!

What character would you cut from Alone?

? Wolf…

Any additional comments?

I almost didn't even finish this book the narration was so bad… I think that the story has a good promise but just not here.

Painful

How did Amazon pick this story for me? Shallow characters, stupid plot, and the narrator is the worst. It’s a short story and I couldn’t even finish it. I’ll find my own books from now on. Lesson learned.

Horrible dialog!!

Awfu. I wish I could give it zero stars. Dialog is simplistic at best for a girl who is "off the charts genious". She's not even a likable character: she's mean and insulting to those who are trying to help her, and the emotions conveyed by the author are shallow at best. She's not even written believable as someone who has been abused: she has too much "b" in her personality to make it even seem remotely believable that she was abused as decribed. Author needs to spend some time with some 17 yr old girls and see how they talk. Maybe then they can write decent, believable dialogue.

I'm really glad this is on audible!

What did you like best about this story?

I've read the girl in the box series and loved it, I'm so glad there's an audio version, it's well read too, I think Annie has got the right voice and attitude for Sienna. Can't wait for the whole series to be on audio! As well as the 'Out of the Box' sequel series.

not at all what I expected

Very good.. Not a long book but engrossing. It was a complete surprise to me and not at all what I expected. It does read more as an introduction though, not a novel. I will be reading the next in the series to see how the story enfolds.

Addictive from start to finish.

I loved every minute of this book and found it hard to put it down. The ending was well worth waiting for. I found myself drawn into this world of supernatural powers. Only wanting more at the stories end. The next book in the series is a welcoming thought. It is indeed one of the best books I've read this year and I'd widely recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.
