Publisher's Summary

Not all broken things are ruined.

Then: Ellison Brooks - PTA President, real estate agent extraordinaire, and head bitch in charge with endless friends and parties to attend.

Now: Ellison Brooks - divorced, single mother of two, financially reliant on her awful ex-husband, and utterly lacking self-confidence.

One month after her divorce is final, Ellison’s ex-husband marries the woman he left her for, sending Ellison spiraling into despair. Her friends have abandoned her, her job is in the tank, and she’s lonely for human connection.

The woman who once had everything now does little more than drink wine and focus on the time she has with her kids. She’s a mess and has no idea how to fix herself.

But then Ellison meets Luke, an intriguing stranger who is only in town for the weekend. Determined to break out of her rut, Ellison jumps at the chance for a hot, one-night stand. When it’s over, she walks away from Mr. One Night Only with no idea how to ever reach him again.

Until the first day of school when Luke turns out to be her son's new teacher. Despite their electric connection, Luke is off-limits according to school board rules and everyone around Ellison. But she just can’t stay away.

As the town of Waterford buzzes about her possible romance, Ellison tries to figure out how to navigate the bitchy world of frenemies, town gossips, and a petty ex-husband while piecing herself back together.

Karma

Loved this story and how it is portrayed. Ellison, a recent divorcee is trying to rebuild her life, after her husband of 14+years decides to leave her for a colleague at work, with marrying the mistress less than 2 months after the ink was dry on their divorce papers. Once the ex see her happy with another man, he finally realizes all that he has lost, but in the midst of Ellison, losing herself, her pride, her dignity and her friends she ends up finding out who she really is. A fantastic story, and amazing narration, made this a great combo!

Really, really enjoyable book!

I listened to the audio version of this book. All the Broken Pieces was a really good book. It had all the post divorce struggles that women go through (your friends become his friends, not enough money, etc.) plus a very interesting side line.
What if you were in a strange place in your life and you had a one night stand? What if your one night stand turned out to be your son's teacher? Complications, right? It was just that for Ellison. Not only was she dealing with trying to get her job back on track and her ex-husband's now pregnant wife who has also taken over her friends, but she was trying not to have a relationship with a guy that she REALLY liked. Her life really is a complicated mess, but her sons and Luke are the best part of it. The question is, can she keep everything from falling completely apart?
I was given a complimentary copy of this audio book. All thoughts are my own.

Thoroughly enjoyed

I really enjoyed this audiobook. We're introduced to Ellison, a recent divorcée who is trying to rebuild her life after her ex-husband gets his mistress pregnant. Ellison, who used to be HBIC is now more of a whimper of herself. She meets Mr Right Now, has some fun, and that's the end. Right?

The story of the book was excellent. While I wanted to scream at this imaginary person for her choices - it's the same choices we all might make being in her position. Ellison works us through her decisions and feelings.

The narrator also did a really good job of putting me in Ellison's (probably fabulous shoes). The emotion ran the gamut and I really felt like I understood this late 30 something with kids when I am more 20s and cat girl. Really glad I got this book. It was provided to me for free in exchange for an honest review and I loved it!

Good

I got this free copy via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story took a long and winding road around the HEA but it got there and the many twist and decisions that got them there made the story enjoyable. I listened to this story until I fell asleep then picked it back up the next day. It was a good listen and well worth the time it took to get to the end. The narrator was very good and made the story come to life.

Ellison was a pill!!!

I have never hated a main character as much as I hated Ellison. I get that her husband cheated on her and married his pregnant mistress and that's hard to bounce back from. I even get that losing your spineless friends who befriended the husband-stealing hussy sucks. What I don't get is the constant whining and hand-wringing that Ellison was still in the throws of more than a year later. Get the frack over it already. She was hard to take!!! She really was. More than three-quarters into this book, Ellison was still lamenting and giving these hateful people too much say into how she felt and acted. Grrrrrrrrr.

The narration was excellent!! In fact, more than anything, it's the narration that kept me into this story. I have no idea who book three will focus on. I can only hope she will be more likable.

All the Broken Pieces

I enjoyed this book. It's a well written story about an almost 40 woman putting her life back together after a divorce shatters it. As Elllison struggles to put her life and herself back together, she begins to see who her real friends are and what love is really supposed to feel like. She becomes a better person because of it. This is an easy listen. The narrator does a good job conveying all of the emotions a woman might go through in that situation, and Luke is pretty awesome. All in all, a nice way to spend a day. You won't be sorry. I received a free review copy of this book at my request and am choosing to leave this honest review.
