Publisher's Summary

You can’t bargain with death if you’ve already sold your soul.

Special agent Patrick Collins has been reassigned by the supernatural operations agency to New York City. Navigating his new relationship with Jonothon de Vere, the werewolf he’s now soulbound to, is nothing compared to dealing with territorial disputes between the vampires and werecreatures who call the five boroughs home. But the delicate treaties that have kept the preternatural world in check are fraying at the edges, and the fallout is spilling into the mundane world.

Manhattan’s club scene is overrun with the vampire drug known as shine and the subways have become a dumping ground for bodies. When the dead are revealed as missing werecreatures, Patrick and Jono find themselves entangled in pack politics twisted by vampire machinations.

Learning to trust each other comes with problems for both of them, and the gods with a stake in Patrick’s soul debt aren’t finished with him yet. Bound by promises they can’t break, Patrick and Jono must find a way to survive a threat that takes no prisoners and is stalking them relentlessly through the city streets.

Old and new betrayals are coming home to roost but the truth - buried in blood - is more poisonous than the lies being spun. Trying to outrun death is a nightmare - one Patrick may never wake up from.

All Souls Near & Nigh is a 104,000 word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Ferry of Bones & Gold, and listening to the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one. Please see the disclaimer at the beginning of the book for content some listeners may find triggering.

Loved it more than Book 1!

I LOVE this more than the first book! We get to know more about Jono. He's thisclose to being perfect! His relationship with Patrick has gotten more complex with the soul bond, and their small pack. I enjoy the gradual pace of their relationship, where they're discovering how one meant that much to the other. Of course, Jono being a protective growly alpha wolf is just all sort of awesome. I love how Patrick isn't a helpless partner too. His magic is strong, even stronger with Jono's "assistance".

What's more interesting is that I learned a lot more in this book, the Aztec mythology is completely new to me, it fascinated me. The appearance of The Coyote was a great plot twist too.

Vampire turf war. Aztec gods going cray. This book was one crazy ride and I cannot wait for book 3!

As always, Gary Furlong's narration was excellent.

Loved it

The narration was perfect (I read the first book book and I felt like everyone sounded exactly like I pictured from that first read) and of course Hailey Turner is fantastically talented ! Look forward to the third book in this serious.

needs more dynamic range

Good story interesting world. love the characters and the the intriguing way that the myths and legends are used in the world. I can't wait to see what happens next. Some of my biggest issues are with the narration.

The voice of Jono sounded like Mr Sheffield from the Nanny. It's a struggle to get through the audio after reading the books.

If Gray furlong could combine all of the other voices he as done in other books than this narration would be really well done.

Pretty decent detective/fantasy with a gay hero

Always looking for fantasy or sci fi with well-fleshed out gay characters. Pretty sick of the one dimensional “gay best friend” tropes or the complete denial we see almost everywhere. This is a welcome glimpse at representation in my favorite genre with decent character development.

Detailed and Fast Paced

The narrator did a good job. This second installment of the Soulbound series was just as enjoyable as the first. This series is very detailed and you need to pay attention or you could get lost as the storyline is fast paced.

Fantastic book!

This book was so good! I enjoyed the first, but this one had me absolutely hooked. Patrick and Jono are fantastic characters and this book had a whole new twist to their relationship with the soul bond between them and with the creation of their own pack of two. These things shift the dynamics in the relationship as they have to learn how the soul bond affects them and what the implications of some of Patrick's rasher actions are now that they're pack. The changes bring them even closer than before and I love these two as a couple. There was so much going on in this story - packless werewolves being made to fight to the death by a god, vampires, a fledgling dragon, and of course poor Patrick having to pay off his family's debts to the gods. There is a lot of action and the story is brilliantly written by Hailey Turner.

Gary Furlong was a new narrator to me when I listened to the first audiobook but after 2 books he's already a favourite of mine. I could listen to him narrate Jono's voice all day! He definitely does an amazing job of bringing this series to life.

I received an arc of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

LOVE this series

I received an ARC of this audio for my honest review. I have really enjoyed listening to this series. Patrick and Jono have to take down a vampire who has teamed up with a powerful god. The vampires have a drug called Shine that make the person who takes it lose control and are made to fight to the death for them to be sacrifice to the demon death. They are able to save Wade who believes he is a werecreature as that is what he's been told but once the drug is out of his system they find out he's a dragon. Great series. Gary does a great job narrating this series.

Excellent audio and story

Five stars for both story and audio! I adore this series and Patrick and Jono, and Greg Furlong brings them to life again in a performance even better than the first novel. I could listen to his Jono all day. And this story? It is pure MM urban fantasy GOLD, full of action and crazy gods, god pack and vampire issues, new characters you will love (WADE!), and a soulbond and relationship between our two MCs that grows deeper every day. The writing itself is superb, too - Hailey Turner is a gifted storyteller who became an autobuy for me after her very first book. I loved every second of listening to this book, and if you haven’t started this series, trust me - you want to.

Epic, detailed, otherworldly!!!

Hailey is in her own world with her creations and this is no exception. I love Jono and Patrick.

The story follows on from book 1 and the world is detailed, dynamic and at times complicated but Hailey's writing draws you in and enraptures you. So many questions need answering and while on this epic adventure even more questions pop up. I love the back and forth between Jono and Patrick as they navigate their new soulbound and unsanctioned pack they have formed. We learn more about both men and I love that Jono's alpha and powerful nature is finally able to take hold and he is able to take action against the current God Pack alphas.

The story is an intricate web and you never know what's going to happen next. Some great new characters are introduced and we see all the original favorites. I look forward to seeing where Hailey will take us next.

If you're looking for a new world to dive into, with adventure, darkness, steam, and dynamic characters that will keep to on your toes, then look no further than this series. It will enthrall you!!! I'm loving it!

Thanks for reading!

Great Series

There's just so much happening in these books, I'm blown away by her world building and I love the "detective"/mystery aspect of it too. ITs a well thought out, unique world, with a fantastic storyline and romance. What more do you want? I really think Gary was the perfect narrator for these! the more I listen to him the more I love him

Very good sequel!

This is such a good story arc, especially if you like ancient mythology.
This picks up from book one. The world building continues with some more gods, vamps and werepeople giving Patrick grief :)
Here we see more of Jono and Patrick's burgeoning relationship; they make a great team, (with a few others), and a great couple.
Loved this action-packed and brilliant sequel.
Gary Furlong is a really good voice for the series - it's hard for me to believe he's the same person that does an awesome Scottish accent! He coneys Patrick's snark and other humourous parts of the story so well. But really, he voices all the different characters (and there are a few), so well, there is no trouble knowing who is speaking at the time.

This is definitely a series I will continue to follow!

Here be dragons?

I love this second book in Hailey Turner's Soulbound series and Gary Furlong continues to do an excellent job of bringing Patrick, Jono and the rest of the packs to life. This time it seems to be South American/Aztec gods that are at the instigators of Patrick's current case. This was another thrilling tale as Patrick and Jono forge their relationship into something even stronger than before. There are a lot of problems within the were-shifter community and they only escalate as hidden truths begin to emerge. Highly recommended for all lovers of Paranormal MM romance thrillers.
I can't wait for book 3!!

Epic story

This was a great listen. I loved the book, the emotions, the action, the intrigue, but I go too fast trying to get to the finish line.
Listening to the story was great as I heard details I had missed on my first read and Gary's voice is perfect for Patrick and Jono.
I can't wait for the next one :-)

Dark Paranormal Story

Very intricate, enjoyable, complex paranormal, mystical story. The world-building is incredible and detailed, but I was a little confused by the number and mix of various gods and paranormal factions. That didn't ruin my enjoyment on the story, but I do wonder if my understanding would have been a little better if I had read or listened to Soulbound Book I first. I absolutely loved Patrick! He was so bold and brave and fearless, no matter the challenge or risk, and Jono was the perfect companion, support, and lover. I look forward to more in this series, and now I definitely need to go back and grab the first book.

The narration was terrific, especially the way Gary seemed to pronounce all the complex god names so effortlessly. Great job!

Great addition to the series!

This book picks up where A Ferry of Bones & Gold ends, and while the romance between Jono and Patrick is still a subplot, their banter, the little gestures between them, the growing intimacy and how much they complement each other, make it clear we're on the right path.

I loved getting more of Jono's POV in this book, because he's still my favorite even if Patrick is catching up with him. Patrick is witty, sarcastic, stubborn and resilient, especially after what he went through in this installment. Jono was supporting and caring, even when he was dealing with a lot as well. And the chemistry between them, even when there are just two sex scenes in this book, was out of this world.

I adored that after so long without a pack, now Jono not only has Patrick, but Sage and Wade and counted with the support of the Tempest pack and Marek and some new allies. Of course, there's also the villains, and Ms. Turner managed to make them tri-dimensional and unlikable. I really want Estelle and Youssef to get their comeuppance at the hands of Jono soon.

All Souls Near & Nigh was fast-paced, interesting, action-packed and filled with all the things I love about the Urban Fantasy genre. Really, between the detailed and intriguing plots and subplots, the endearing main characters and Hailey Turner's fantastic writing, I have no trouble recommending this book and series!

While I liked Gary Furlong's narration of the first book in the series, I enjoyed his performance in All Souls Near & Nigh even more. He's more settled in the characters, both main and secondary, and I felt the narration was less monotone. The series is great in any format, although lately I've found myself preferring audio, so I have no trouble recommending this one.

This series just gets stronger

Another excellent edition to the series. Patrick and Jono are living together but independent were creatures are turning up dead and between a promise to a vampire, a God pack not doing their job, and several new gods, their lives are never going to be boringly domestic.
A thrilling story with excellent use made of existing gods who in the version of Earth walk among us. Super relationship development, all the old secondary characters as well as some new ones, and just that hint at the end that this story isn't over yet.
Can't wait for the next one.
