Publisher's Summary

One kiss under the mistletoe destroyed a friendship. Will another Christmas kiss remake it into something better?

Eli hasn't been home since he left at 18 with a heart aching from his best friend's rejection and his father's intolerance. But when his father reaches out, Eli figures it's time to make peace with his family. He doesn't expect to come face-to-face with Turner too - or to learn that the straight friend he'd foolishly loved is actually bisexual - but once the shock wears off, he knows exactly what he wants for Christmas.

Turner's life isn't everything he'd once planned, but he's happy to be the shoulder his loved ones lean on. They keep him busy, which is just as well since none of his dates have really clicked. He hasn't been able to connect with anyone the way he did with his former best friend. When Eli shows up for the holidays after years away, Turner doesn't know what hit him. But he knows one thing: This time, he wants to give Eli a reason to stay.

All I Want Is You is a friends to lovers, second-chance romance with an HEA.

enjoyed it

Did the story keep me engaged: was slow to start but picked up half way through.
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: by the 3 hour mark I was completely invested in their outcome.
Would I listen to it again: yes

Comments: Characters are realistic and likeable, there are lots of old hurts and family acceptance to work through and while they weren’t instantly 'fixed' it was all solved in a heartwarming way.

Narrator: Wyatt Baker did a reasonable job at bringing the characters in this book to life, although there were times the narration felt flat and stilted and sounded almost robotic it wasn't enough to pull me out of the story.

Overall an enjoyable second chance romance set at Christmas.

Second Chance For Friends

It's a sweet holiday story that centers around two friends who get a second chance at love. Eli returns home after many years and sees his childhood friend, Turner, who had rejected him in high school. Little did he know that Turner also had feelings for him but didn't know what to do with them. Their journey is sweet to a wonderful HEA. The narrator did a great job with the story and the characters. i voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

A sweet second chance holiday romance

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed the story about Eli & Taylor. I have a soft spot for second chance small town romance so this hit all the spots for me. The conflict between Eli and his dad hits me hard because of the regrets and the years lost. Wyatt Baker is a new to me narrator and this is the first book by him I have listened to. I like his tone and voice but I had a hard time differentiating between Eli & Taylor’s voices in their dialogue. The confrontation scenes were very harsh and not as nuanced.

I would definitely recommend this to fiends looking for a sweet holiday gay romance.

A fun romantic holiday story

This was a good Holiday story. I loved the characters and the second chance romance between them. I also loved Scout the Border Collie.
I listened to the audio and the narration was ok. It was just that though a basic reading with no real voice changes or emotion.
I do recommend the book though for a fun Christmas story.

Christmas angst

If you need a little angst in your holiday, try All I Want Is You. A second- chance for Eli and Turner, childhood best friends who drifted apart in their last year of high school, this book has some great feels both between the main characters and between Eli and his father. Heartwarming HEA.

The narrator read the story well. He was very good at the angstier parts. But I also felt like he was very forceful in his overall delivery and he didn't differentiate the characters voices very well.

all i want is you

Turner wasn't ready to be out and missed many years of happiness, but when he got a second chance he played the game strong and won. His mother irked me so badly with her nerdiness that I wanted to shake her. Eli. bless his heart, finally got what he deserved-grudging acceptance from an overly critical dad and love from a partner- Turner. A great heartwarming holiday read. The narrator did a great job.

A sweet Christmas story

Eli returns home to Juniper for the holidays after a long absence.
He's trying to mend fences with his father.
Eli's ex best friend Turner has become close to Eli's family in his absence.
I really enjoyed the narration of this sweet Christmas story of family and friendship and second chances.

Good Christmas story

I enjoyed this story. I liked how the MC talked about what they were thinking (for the most part). It was nice change from stories. The narrator was just okay for me. At parts he was great but then others times he was too flat.

A lovely christmas story

Eli kissed Turner when he was 18 and was rejected.
He left town partly because of this and his High school coach Dad's inability to support him being gay.
For 8 long years he stayed away until the LGBTQ shelter he worked at was merged with another and he had no job.
So he went home for Christmas.

His reunion with Turner was fraught but they soon realise that they are meant to be together. Turner has always regretted rejecting Eli but he is now Eli's Dad's assistant and does not take any crap from coach, even going a far as to pull him up over his behaviour.

this is the story of how they overcome adversity and reunite over the holidays.

I really liked this story when I read it last year and the narration, by Wyatt Baker was okay. Let's put it this way , I didn't want to turn it off once like some books I have listened to. It brought that lump to my throat that only comes when I get emotional at a story.

Would I recommend this to others readers? yes I would.

A Merry Kiss-mas Story!

Just before Christmas, I was lucky enough to be gifted a free audiobook copy of All I Want Is You by DJ Jamison. She was kind enough to offer free copies of her book to select people so they could listen and review. I’m always up for discovering new to me authors, so I was more than excited to have the opportunity to experience this quick Christmas story during the holiday season.

Before I get into the meat and potatoes of the review I’d like to talk about the narrator, Wyatt Baker. I’m actually pretty picky when it comes to narrators. If the reader doesn’t breathe life into the characters or story, I honestly can’t stay interested. That being said, I’m happy to say Wyatt Baker did just that. From the start to finish I was drawn into the audiobook and that wasn’t just because the author did a fantastic job at writing the book. He brought the energy of the characters to the book right from the start. I felt all of the emotions which really appreciate as a listener.

Now, on to my thoughts about this story! I won’t give too much away because I think, as long as you like m/m romance mixed with a dash of holiday spirit, everyone should give this book a read/listen. So, don’t expect too many spoilers if that’s what you’re looking for.

This lovely holiday read tells the story of Eli and Turner, two guys that grew up together as best friends in Juniper, Oregon. It includes many plot points that tug on the emotional heartstrings: unrequited love, familial homophobic degradation, mending rifts in relationships, eye-opening revelations, exploring past feelings, sizzling sexy times between the sheets, Christmas festivities, and a sweet doggy best friend.

I honestly enjoyed listening to this book from start to finish. One thing that I did feel was lacking was the reconciliation between Eli and his father. I felt that Eli suffered mentally and emotional as a kid due to his father’s homophobia. Yes, his old man wanted to mend their relationship after eight years, but it felt like it all fell into place too easily. Emotional wounds are hard to overcome, so I felt like forgiveness was given a little too quickly. Another thing that I was slightly bothered by was how angry Turner got with Eli when Turner’s doggy had to go to the vet. Blaming Eli for what happened seemed childish to me and I struggled to connected with Turner after that.

All in all, this was a good book! It started off well, had a solid plot, and ended with a sweet epilogue that gave me the warm and fuzzies. I would definitely recommend this book/audiobook for those looking for an enjoyable holiday read they can finish in an afternoon.

All I Want Is You

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

Realistic

This audiobook ticks several boxes for me. When I read or listen to a Christmas story, I far prefer a standalone to revisiting previous characters. While this is a novella, it is certainly not short so there is plenty of time for character development. And...it is a second chance romance where the MCs come back together after a gap of 8 years.

I must confess that I(slightly) preferred Eli to Turner. Eli has such a wicked sense of humour despite life not being particularly kind at times. I liked how he tried hard with his father despite his father's often lukewarm acceptance of him. Turner is more care worn by circumstances and there is no easy solution to some of his problems. I found the writing to be realistic and not at all sugar coated despite being a holiday novella.

The narration by Wyatt Baker is clear and well paced, very important for someone with hearing impairment. However, I did find him rather monotone and sometimes it seemed that he was just reading the story and not portraying the emotions.

Good Story

A yellow convertible, a driver in distress, a knight who drives a shiny jeep and a … Bear!?!

Eli and Turner’s story starts out as two friends who no longer have contact with each other because of a mistake both of them made years ago. Coming in to the book you get to see a very sweet relationship between Turner and the absent Eli’s family. It gives the book a nice background that you don’t often see in books where there is a rift between friends.

I do wish we would have seen more background between Cam and Turner as well as more development for their past relationship. Cam shows up and starts flirting with Eli in front of his Ex and they all go for drinks. There's not much depth that tells us of their past together and if the relationship ended on a good or bad note and why.

Things did flow very smoothly for the plot in this story. My only reservation is that I had hoped there would be a bit more of a struggle between Eli and Coach. The acceptance was very easy with minimal resistance between the two after not speaking for years. Eli’s relationship with Turner was also very easy and progressed very quickly and I wish we had got to see more of their life together before the epilogue.

Overall, I had a bit of a laugh at some parts and the story left me with a very feel-good and light vibe with its happy ever after. The writer did an amazing job at making a light and sweet Christmas story that leaves you wanting for more.

A lovely warm hug of a Christmas story.

This was a lovely festive listen with heart warming characters and hot love scenes. I binged the book over two days and was left with a smile on my face when it ended.

The narration is engaging and the story has you rooting for Eli and Turner from the very beginning.

a really cute, second chance romance

I totally fell in love with Turner and Eli, the best friends who went their separate ways after an ill fated kiss. Eli is finally back home for Christmas after 8 years away and initially doesn't realise that Turner came out as bi a few years previously. The two men eventually find their way to each other and realise that what they have has always been more than friendship. A really sweet holiday romance.
