We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Publisher's Summary
When a body is discovered at a popular Highland landmark, it seems like just another day on the job for DCI Jack Logan and his team.
Except this body is missing a very vital component, and given its location - The Well of Seven Heads - it seems like someone is trying to send a message. But why? And to whom?
With pressure mounting from his superiors, 600 teenagers baying for blood, and the press sniffing around for a scandal, the only chance Jack has of cracking his latest case is if he finds a way to keep the heid, while all around are losing theirs.
Ahead of the Game is the 10th book from best-selling Scottish crime author, JD Kirk, and is perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Stuart Macbride, and Val McDermid.

Ahead of the Game is Fantastic!
I've been listening to the DCI Logan series since it first came out and have loved every minute. JD Kirk is brilliant and Angus King is amazing! Although the series is a Crime Thriller, I have laughed my way through all of the character development and interactions with the team. This book; however, I almost cried. It was close, but Bob had me laughing again. Thank you and keep up the great work, please.

Not For Me
I do enjoy these and I will give 2 stars. The humour is usually one of the key good features but there was something slightly amiss in this one for me. Perhaps it was slightly forced, perhaps some of the descriptions were too long, it didn’t quite gel and for the first time ever, I found myself fast forwarding through the laboured parts. No spoilers, I hope, but surely Tyler couldn’t be quite so stupid and still be on the force? DCI Logan had some real TSTL incidents which made the whole book seem a bit far fetched.
I found Angus Kind to be a over the top with his narration of DCI Logan

every episode is great!@
Angus King brings these well crafted characters to life. each of them. My favourite is 2nd in command, DI Constable Benjamin Ford. Older, wiser. funnier, dearest.
The stories are very interesting and keep you guessing who the murderer is. All of it is a set up for the crazy banter and good natured ribbing.
These are really my favourite parts.
They call it " Winding you up"and you know they love each other. And will protect each other. Ben Ford better never die. He's too important to the scripts, or the stories or the relationships. I have a feeling. Ben is favourite of all the characters. Especially the author J.D. KIRK and Angus King, the actor who makes all characters live!!!! Long may they may they all rein !!! On to next episode for me!!!

JD Kirk’s best so far
I cannot get enough of DCI Logan! The best crime series I have read. The Character development, story, mystery but especially the humour make this series my favourite of all time. Crime is my go to genre however it’s often so serious and morose which can leave you a little deflated and exhausted . JD Kirk writes with balance which has you laughing out loud one minute and tearing up the next. The narration is on point and Angus King really understands the characters while expertly interpreting the writing through his narration. Every one of these novels leaves me wanting more and it’s tough to wait for the next! Totally binge worthy. Hurry up and write the next one JD!

Entertaining
This series just gets better and better. Great story line with plenty of humour thrown in. As for the narrator, well he's just brilliant.

Hopeless.
I purchased after reading good reviews. Who wrote these reviews Unable? Unable to finish, hopeless.
