He was a hairdresser to dye for....

The local ladies all deem Mr. John a wizard, so when Agatha Raisin finds a few grey hairs on her head - and the rinse she tries at home turns her hair purple - she makes a beeline for the handsome Evesham hairdresser. And as well as sorting out her hair it soon becomes clear the charming man also has designs on her heart - but their budding romance is cut short when Mr. John is fatally poisoned in his salon. Once again Agatha finds herself embroiled in a murder case. Was it one of Mr. John’s many lady clients, all of whom divulged to him their darkest secrets? It's time for Agatha to get to the root of this hair-raising mystery!

So much fun reading Agatha. She is so funny and love lorn. If more people read Agatha they would be laughing to hard to argue.

As a sleuth, Agatha is at her best in this novel. James isn't around and that's a plus. Unfortunately, Charles is. I wish Agatha had differnet male friends.

When a well known hairdresser is murdered, it seems blackmail was the cause. With James out of town, Agatha teams up with sir Charles to work it all out. Hairdressers can be horribly petty and vengeful it seems.
Twist of hairy fun in the end, aside from the sadness of murder of course, but you’ll see.

Hair can be murder

I have enjoyed listening to the Agatha Raisin series. The narrator does a terrific job! However, as this series has gone on, the author describes Agatha's eyes as "bear like" in every story...sometimes multiple times. And truculent? At first, I was impressed with the good vocabulary word....but after hearing it SO. MANY. TIMES, it no longer seems like a clever word choice & more like the author thinks her readers won't realize how frequently she uses it. Are ALL of these items truly "truculent"? Is there really no better word that could substituted instead? It cheapens the stories, which I don't like b/c the stories have -overall- been enjoyable to experience. I will definitely keep listening to the series, but I may have to give them up if the author can't dig out a thesaurus.

I like a tidy mystery, and Agatha’s hair appointments are priceless. For people who enjoy this genre, it’s great. Also, it came included with my audible membership, so the price was right. :)
