A deadly curse in the making...

For Cascade Lorne, getting out of a messy marriage was supposed to be the ticket to starting over.

On the brink of her big five-oh birthday, a special delivery transforms everything she knows and plunges Cascade into a bewitching world of unexpected delights, phenomenal power, and legendary creatures turned real.

But before she has time to adjust, Cascade becomes the number one suspect in the murder of a powerful figure in this strange new world.

With only a sarcastic talking cat and a mysterious but totally hot neighbor to help, Cascade must unravel a decades old mystery even as the killer plots to use her as the last piece in a lethal puzzle.

loved it.

this was a fantastic read. About a witch who did not know she was a witch and due to a lost package for 34 years that had her magic contained in it did not receive her powers till she is 50. When the welcome committee comes by and realize she is a late bloomer and can't control her magic. she is taken to the council to see what needs to be done with her. Of course crazy thins happen. They try to find a family member to help train her. They tried her half sister, who is a witch., but she does not want to.
They find her aunt but she does not seem to be in her right mind. So they try putting an amulet on her to control her magic till they can decide how to help her. She falls asleep amulet comes off and she wakes up in the council building and one of the council members has been murdered. Looks like maybe her magic could have done it. While they are looking into the murder she has her magic bounded by another witch and the police placed binding as well. She is sent home and is accompanied by a cat that does jobs for the council. Of course he can talk. Eventually the true murderer is caught. This was a great book and i do look forward to the next book. i received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

The narrator did a fantastic job .

this MC is either the nicest person ever or

maybe all of the books I read are by jerks? I don't know but her "nice gullible rescue me I'm sorry no I'm sorry no I'm so" is the most irritating thing to listen to. the writer is very good though. editing sounded on point? storyline was very concise. like you know this lady for sure went to college for English lit or something.

Really great audio book

I absolutely loved this book! Cozy mysteries are intriguing and this one does not disappoint! Every time I thought I had a handle on what was going to happen something unexpected happened. The characters were great and the story line was on point! The narrator did a great job too!
