So much was going on, I'm not sure where to focus, but apparently in this gang of outlaws, there's at least a couple of men of honor!
More tragedies like in book 1, horrible abuses, and possible abuse, but much more focus on how to heal or survive, than on the horrors themselves. I don't feel the pastor was proper in his judgment at the funeral, but otherwise I really enjoyed these complicated characters. Again, the narrator did a wonderful job!

Book 2 in series
Recommend listening to book 1 first—A Texans Promise—as the series builds. The author continues to develop the backdrop of life after the civil war, and the desperation of many to rebuild their lives. She does a good job of developing the main characters, Jaimie & Will, as well as secondary characters like Scout. Domestic abuse and the absence of women having basic rights for building their lives again is a big part of the storyline. Faith is part of the character development and done well.
The narrator does a great job of capturing your interest for each character.

I love this book! The author does a beautiful job developing the characters and weaving faith and redemption into a gripping story line. This is book 2. I also really enjoyed book 1!
