Publisher's summary

In A Tale of Two Cookies, a cozy mystery from Eve Calder, it's nothing but sugar and spice at The Cookie House, but elsewhere on Coral Cay everything isn't so nice.

Pastry chef Kate McGuire is loving life on the laid-back island of Coral Cay, Florida. As junior partner in a bakery renowned for luscious desserts - especially her cookies - life is pretty sweet. So when an old friend arrives and announces a spur-of-the-moment beach wedding, that's just the icing on the wedding cake.

But the groom vanishes right as a television crew descends on the town to film a hot-new realty show. Is there a connection? Is her friend Desiree somehow involved? Or did groom Judson simply get cold feet? The bride and groom were paired better than warm cookies and cold milk, so Kate doesn't buy it.

As the show's cast runs amok on the island and the investigation into Judson's disappearance heats up, Kate and her pal Maxi, along with town dog Oliver, will brave the rambunctious world of reality TV and a wedding weekend gone awry, in an all-out effort to find the missing groom.

Not my favorite of the 3, but good.

I did really enjoy this, just not as much as the first two.
It did keep me guessing tho I did kind of suspect the one who eventually was the culprit. The reason I took away a star as I said I did not like it as much as the first two is that at one point I thought “ok, time to wrap this up”. Still, I did enjoy it.
And again, I love the camaraderie of the women and their strong friendship present in the books.
I do look forward to the next.
Narration was good except for two things…Maxi is Hispanic and the narrator mispronounces her son’s name. The J in Javi is pronounced like a hard H not like the J of Joe. And I noticed the narrator pronounced “gracias” like they do in Spain, with the “th” sound. It is a small detail but it bugged me.

I am glad there was a good ending!

This one frustrated me in that I was not sure it was going to end well despite being a cozy mystery. Kate never loses faith in her friend though.

Great plot

If you delight in hearing a wholesome good cozy mystery, then this is the series for you. I enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator has depth in a variety of voices and the story plots by Eve Calder are well written which is why I have been listening to this series.

The climax of this book caused me to stop working and gasp. I always listen to Audible while I work - it helps the time pass. Sometimes I'm so engrossed in work to where I'm only halfway listening or either the book becomes background noise. This time while I was working I was only halfway listening, but then I had to stop and rewind once the climax was reached. This particular story evoked several emotions: shock, sadness and happiness to name a few.

Again, it was well written and an enjoyable listen. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Entertaining

These books are simply delightful. Eve Calder has a winning formula for this series. It has good food, cute dogs, mystery and fun, close neighbors continually going about doing good in the town. My only complaint is that Ms. Calder doesn't have any more books, but you can be sure I'll be watching for her next ones. Good job!

cozy, but intriguing.

I live this series, especially the narrator. she makes the characters come to life. I always enjoyed the twists and was fun to be surprised.

very good

Very good. Much more intrigue and a more unique storyline than your average cozy mystery. The story keeps you guessing. There's tension and some peril, but it's not graphically violent, which is perfect for me.

I love the setting and the side characters. The author does a great job of making you feel like you're there.

The narration is excellent. You'd swear you were listening to more than one actor. She annunciates well and is great with accents, ages, genders, etc.

Looking forward to the next in the series. 🙂
