Publisher's summary

A Rescued from Ruin Collection: Volume Three includes three full-length novels:

Anything but a Gentleman (Book Eight): Augusta Widmore must force her sister's ne'er-do-well betrothed to the altar, or her sister will bear the consequences. She needs leverage only one man can provide-Sebastian Reaver. When she invades his office demanding a fortune in markers, he exacts a price a spinster will never pay-become the notorious club owner's mistress. And when she calls his bluff, a fiery battle for surrender begins.

A Marriage Made in Scandal (Book Nine): As the most feared lord in London, the Earl of Holstoke is having a devil of a time landing a wife. When a series of vicious murders brings suspicion to his door, only one woman is bold enough to defend him-Eugenia Huxley. Her offer to be his alibi risks scandal, and marriage is the remedy. But as a poisonous enemy coils closer, Holstoke finds his love for her might be the greatest danger of all.

A Kiss from a Rogue (Book Ten): A cruel past left Hannah Gray with one simple longing-a normal life with a safe, normal husband. Finding one would be easy if she weren't distracted by wolf-in-rogue's-clothing Jonas Hawthorn.

Contains mature themes.

Excellent series

I may prefer Lady W to the Bridgertons Lady D. This was a great series all around..the narrator was great, the characters were tied in well to other stories, and the writing was better than most of the historical romances I have read, lately.... I've been on a regency romance kick for about 3 years now, and this series was up there with the Loretta Chase, Mia Vincy, Julia Quinn, and Johanna Lindsey series..

Wonderful series!

Each story was well written and the complexity of the characters evoked a lot of emotions for me.
The intimate details were a bit much but not enough to make me stop listening.
Often, when you’re able to listen to so many stories without using a credit, then the final stories require you to purchase them, to conclude the series, I often find myself debating whether or not to make the purchase. This series was worth the credit. I absolutely adored “the dragon.” Great series and you won’t be disappointed, even with the multiple, very detailed sex scenes that carry on multiple times, throughout some chapters.
The anticipation of the mystery to be solved and learning of the traumatic experiences the characters face is heartbreaking. Definitely pulls at the heart strings. These are my thoughts which will differ from others. That’s why reviews are important, we all have different perspectives.
Give this series a listen!

Is the narration getting even breathier?

Bumped to 1.5x, the saucy, wink and a nod narration, along with the cheeky Lady Wallingham introductions, set the right tone for the series. But, I swear the over-acted, over-pronounced voicing got more and more over the top until it was nails on the chalkboard in the final book.
Or maybe I shouldn’t have binged this. That could be it too.

Ch1 Anything but a Gentleman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“That is no answer you giant, surprise spoiling, presumptuous man!”
This was my favorite of the whole series because it embraces all of the tropes in regency romance and then doubles down. Yes, it’s over the top. Yes, it’s not very credible. Yes, I loved every outlandish minute.

Augusta: “Devil!”
Sebastian: “Nuisance!”
Ah, hate flirting, my favorite kind of foreplay. Compared to the other books, the sex is on the slow burn and kind of tame side, but that’s because there’s more story to squeeze in. There’s a street urchin,
a second romantic pairing and too many well meaning interlopers.

Ch27 A Marriage Made in Scandal⭐️⭐️⭐️
Phineas: “You were neither subtle nor polite.”
Eugenia Huxley: “Yes, but when I am blunt, it is bold and charming.
When you are blunt, it is offensive and annoying.”
Actually, it’s the pot calling the kettle black, as Eugenia is blunt, bold, charming, offensive and annoying in equal measure. It took me quite a bit to warm up to her reckless disregard for everything and her steamrolling everyone. Thank goodness for awkward science guy Phineas, whose quirks won me over to the both of them. This book jumps forward six years and features Phineas, the losing suitor for Maureen’s hand from the second Collection.

Ch54 A Kiss From A Rogue ⭐️⭐️
Jonah: “It’s dark in here.”
Hannah: “I like dark places.”
The overall tone of this last one is angst, with broken bird Hannah taking way too long to rise above, much less convince Jonah she won’t break. There’s also a lot of trips down memory lane, reminiscing on the romances of the previous couples and poor Lady Wallingham’s present widowhood. It was poignant, when heard as part of the series, but as a standalone it was sorely lacking in humor. The mystery of the stolen chest was nonsensical and didn’t add much. I give props to the author, however, for providing an entire series with unique MCs and fantastically heart squeezing stories.

Enjoyable Stories!

Nice compilation of historical romance stories.

I liked it the way they flowed from one story to the next, yet they are each a stand alone.

Recommended audiobooks!

Such a pleasure

I have enjoyed the whole series. Sometimes with series they can all be the exact same. There are some common themes (push and pulling of feeling unloved or a bad guy threatening in the last few chapters). Overall, I really enjoyed the narrator and intertwining of families and characters. This last bunch was my least favorite but still good:

Anything But A Gentleman

I like this author and the series except for this book. There is a lot of characters managing other characters, being overbearing and overstepping. Characters I liked in previous books are not cast in a good light in this book.
