Publisher's summary

The primal rule of winning: don't fall in love with the contender.

Three months shy of her 18th birthday, Ness is forced to return to Colorado. Even though it's been six years, and the wolves of her all-male pack don't recognize her, she recognizes them. People who shun others because of their gender are hard to forget. Especially Liam Kolane—son of Heath, the crudest and cruelest Alpha to have ruled the Boulder Pack.

Liam is as handsome as he is infuriating, as kind as he is punishing, and he makes Ness's traitorous heart race, which isn't good. After all, he's a Kolane. Like father like son, right? When Heath dies, Liam vies to become the new Alpha and no one dares challenge him. Except Ness. Thus begins a treacherous game. The rules: winner takes all...including loser's life.

Fans of BITTEN and TWILIGHT will devour A Pack of Blood and Lies.

Good narration, interesting wolf shifter story

I listened to the audio and the narrator did a great job. She really fit the characters well.

The story is entertaining and I loved the wolf shifter aspect. Ness is dealing with a lot and she doesn’t have many people that support her. Ness has been living away from Pack life; her old pack left a lot to be desired, but she needs to go back and deal with some things. She ends up volunteering to compete for the alpha position, but she doesn’t really want it. Plus, the mystery of how the old alpha died is causing issues and there’s too many people treating Tess horribly; some people even are out to harm her. She tries to act unaffected and adult, but she’s only 17, so her bravado falters at times. I like that she has sass, but it boarders on being a brat at times. She needs to think things through better, and she’s not good at reading people. She still has growing to do, but I love that she sticks up for herself.

Things move a bit too slowly, but the story kept me entertained the whole time. The romance is sweet; an enemies to lovers thing. Liam and Ness are cute. I did have an issue with all the other girls in the story coming across as morons that are boy crazy and not much else. Also, why in the heck would the wolf shifters tell these random girlfriends about being wolves; most of these chicks are just bang buddies, so the trust factor isn’t there. Really a lot of characters needed to have more common sense.

Overall, I liked how the story turned out. I read some reviews for the next books in this series and unfortunately, I don’t like the direction the story goes. Especially with Liam and what happens with him in the 3rd book; I hate that type of scenario. So, I’d still like to read them, but my excitement level has waned after reading the reviews, so I’ll probably hold off for a bit.

Loved it!!

I have been keeping a eye out for this book. The cover caught my attention and man the title fits the story to a T.
I enjoyed the pace and the storyline SO much. I loved Ness’ world and when it expanded to the Boulder tribe and meeting more characters I found myself truly enjoying the story even more. Who to trust, and trying to solve the mystery kept me on the edge of my seat.
Love this world. Need more. 😍

Audio 5 stars ⭐️
The narrator Sara Hannah is phenomenal. She brings the story to life. Amazing at doing the male voices and she brought the Boulder pack to life. I could listen to her all day and in fact I did!!

Couldn't stop listening to it

I absolutely love this series and the narrator did a wonderful job bringing it to life. I've read this series at was released and has been one of my all time favorite ever since. Olivia has created a world filled with danger, indignation, strength, sweetness, loyalty, and love. It's addicting in any form. The narrator did an awesome job reading the series almost exactly the way I did! She was able to forge that same connection with me that Olivia was able to and it added depth to something I already adore.

Amazing

This is my first book by this author and it was amazing. I love all pnr books so this was right up alley. Ness is forced to go back home after her Mom's passing. Will she challenge Liam, the son of her enemy to be alpha? Entertaining, intrigue and so good. I look forward to more books by this author.

Felt like I needed something more.

I really enjoyed many aspects of this story, and the narration was fantastic. However I felt like I was missing something from it. The world building and character development was great, and I feel like this was a good start to the ground laying of a first book in a series. Perhaps that why I felt like I needed something more from the story, that was just out of reach. The writing was great though I could have done with less misogyny with the pack dynamics. There were a lot of “anything you can do, I can do better” and boys club moments. Despite that the story drew me in enough that I want to listen to more books in this series. Hopefully they will deliver a bit more with the story and plot as it continues, and this was just shy of hitting the mark because it was first in the series. Over all I think it had plenty to offer and I’ve used credits on less appealing stories in the past. This is YA so keep that in mind. I was given this book for a unbiased review.

Loved this story

loved this story! shifter stories are usually not the genre i read or listen to. The mystery, love, twists, jealousy! all enough to keep my attention! Ness is forced to go back home to her family! Shes spunky ,insecure, doesnt fit in with her pack. its a story how she evolves, finds strength and courage to fight for what she knows what is wrong. I love how the characters interact with each other. I really enjoyed listening to this story. Sara Hannan's narration made this story come to life! I received this audio , i voluntarily posted my honest review of this story!

A slow and steady build of intrigue

There are so many twists and turns in this book, even somewhat predictable arcs end up having unexpected twists. There are characters that you love and then hate and then love, and vice versa. First impression isn’t always the best impression, and it keeps you on your toes as you make your way through the story. The tension continues to build slowly, and by then I was fully drawn in and engrossed in the story. Very much looking forward to the next book, as there were some very interesting twists at the end and I can’t wait to see how they play out.

The story sucked me in right away and kept me entertained from beginning to conclusion. The story flowed at a great pace and kept me in the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.

Narration was well done and brought the story to life.

The story was interesting and unique. I loved the suspense and unexpected twists and turns! I was pleasantly surprised how everything turned out even better than I had anticipated!
