Wonderful Listen

When I read the title details of this it gave off an Agatha Christie vibe. Although it wasn’t anything like a Christie story it was really good regardless. I really liked Mr. Quayle. He was a well written character. It kept my interest and I had to see how it ended.

A Good Start to a Series

This book offered a pretty solid start to this series. The narrator was good, and the plot moved along. I’d pretty much guessed the villains, yet it was nice to see the way it all came together. I’ll be reading the next installment at some point.

Slow burn but well done

This is not a high-powered, edge-of-the-seat sort of thriller, but a mystery of the old school. I really enjoyed it once I got through the first couple of chapters. I was sure I knew who-dun-it several times with several different culprits but eventually just trusted the author to tell the story and and finished it in a couple of days. The narrator, originally, rather grated but again, once I just sat back, it was really enjoyable. Not something I'd take on a long car ride because I needed to pay a bit more attention but was fine to knit to. I'll plan on book 2 when it comes out.

Great fun

This was a great listen. Twisting and turning story. Key characters likeable and convincingly human. Narrator just right. Looking forward to the next one.

I really enjoyed Mr Quinn

I really enjoyed this 1st book & look forward to more. Though a little predictable, the story line was enjoyable, the characters likable and there was still enough intrigue to leave you wanting to find out everything about Mr. Quayle!

It took me quite awhile to get into, I’m glad I stuck with it.

I more than once considered putting this audio book down and moving on to something else in my library. It took what seemed to me a long time to develop. It was interesting to hear the character introductions, but I was impatient to get to some action.

Then I realized I had just come from finishing most of the Lew Archer noire detective series and before that much of the Dashiell Hammett canon. I should have cleansed my mental palate with nonfiction before starting a vastly different type of mystery book.

After that epiphany I settled in and found the story and narrator quite wonderful. I’m so glad I stuck with it, it was absolutely worth it.

No doubter credit worthy.

Good, British murder mystery

I enjoyed listening to this book. I love the different voices/ local accents, and the whole story being set in an historic castle in the English countryside. The images were wonderful. The characters were varied and interesting.
