Publisher's Summary

Set in Regency England, Stephanie Laurens' New York Times best-selling Bastion Club series evokes a bygone era where romantic entanglements rule the day - and inflamed desires rule the night. In A Fine Passion, Jack, Baron Warnefleet, narrowly avoids marriage when he flees London for the refuge of his estate. But there waits Lady Clarice Altwood, whose beauty is impossible to ignore.

Pretty good

Story is good but narrator needs to learn how to say "grimaced" since the author uses it way too often. Listen at 1.5 speed and it's so much better.

I love all Stephnie Laurens books

I really enjoyed this book. She gave us a better understanding of Jack and who he is. I found it easy listening and set at a comfortable pace. Clarice was a wonderful character and hope to see more of her in the next few books.

Gentle Rogue

I enjoyed reading this novel but listening to it was not nearly as enjoyable. The narrators voice ruined "James'" character for me. I would recommend this book as a "read only".

learn!<br />

always enjoy SL.
but. .. have to say this .if I hear 'he grimACED' one more time I'll throw a knife (maybe I'll miss the cat).
please make sure the reader knows how to pronounce your favourite word. and ... another episode, poor Jervis was pronounced phonetically. any grade 7 kid knows the name is pronounced Jarvis. please ... get it right ... some of us enjoy a seamless listen.

horrible narration ruins great book

SL uses the word grimace umpteen dozen times in her books. the only reason I know this is because this narrator mispronounced it every single time. She also mispronounced Dalziel's name as well . she said it as Deal emphasizing the second syllable.
her voice was so pedantic, I had to listen at 1.55 speed just to get through it.
Other than that, I enjoyed the story.

Grimace, grimaced

Why, oh why do these words appear so often?
The narrator butchered them in a way it became too irritating. It almost killed the book.

Bad narrator or bad book?

I’m not sure if it was the narrator that ruined it or the book. Maybe both. It was hard to keep listening but I did. I’ll never listen to Jill tanner again.

Ok

Narrative alright but wish she would have pronounced the word 'grimace' correctly..very irritating hearing it incorrectly spoken especially as it appears quite often in the text!!

Not her best

Definitively not Stephanie Laurens' best. Skip it.

Wonderful

I happen to love the books by Stephanie Laurens, especially the Bastion books. Her heroes are warriors and their mates are worthy of them.

As usual lots of " Copy and Paste Sex"

I think the authoress can write a good and gripping story, with lots of intrigue. It just a pity she fills out the pages with erotic sex, I have never felt the need to be a third in anyone's sexual encounter. I accept that sex sells books. When Listening, rather that reading and skipping pages, you are forced to endure long boring repetitive scenario that sound very familiar in all her books. If you can get passed the sex, the story is good and the characters believable, though a it racy for the time they are set it.
